Since boomers and just about everyone over 30 seems to think that anyone younger than them is living a wide-eyed fairyland that doesn't reflect any semblance of the rigors "real people" have to endure, why don't you share your wisdom?

"Real world" is such a weird euphemism.

It acknowledges the world isn't "fair" and no one really "has your back" (except maybe if you're born into money). It emphasizes your own agency in "making it", whilst de-emphasizing luck/chance that also factors in to one's "hard work" when it comes to success. And it passively accepts the current state of affairs rather than opening up a possibility that attempts to change that status quo.

So older people who are still "stuck" in life use it to rationalize away why life is hard, and older people who are successful use it to ignore what role chance played in their success.

Basically it means hard work can lead to success, but not always.
