That's not horrible. Remember the days when you were getting super into a game and then you get hit "Please insert disc 2 to continue." Or worse, the ones where different parts of the game were on different parts of the disc (not in a progression) so you ended up having to swap back and forth.

I just buy all my games digital now anyway, so I don't have to deal with that shit anymore.

it was common before blu-rays. ps1 games did this all of the time, final fantasy 9 was like 4 discs. even the 360 dealt with this. Blue Dragon was 2 discs. lost odyssey was 3

Gamecube with tales of symphonia.

Even freaking ps2 had it with Star Ocean 3. Here's the kicker, it's not like the game was super long so as to need 2 discs (I mean, it's pretty decently long, but not oblong)

That being said, this is some BS. It's obvious the game wasn't compressed so they're making it sound bigger than it is, and even more obvious that the world is gonna be big and empty and completely pointless, this is post San Andreas Rockstar we're talking about, who no longer care about fun just stupid "realism" bullshit.

However, the marketing tactic seems to be working spectacularly. Surprised other games didn't do it sooner.

I dont know how people see this as a "win for digital". Actually putting all your game on discs is a good thing. I dont want to download an additional 55 gigs after installing the game from disc.

You still have to install it though. Just from a disc. Which has a fixed speed.

Also people are fucking dumb man.

Yeah I'll get it at 10 from gamestop. It never seems to take over 30 minutes to an hour. This might take 2. But I have work the next day and I'm getting a new house so wont be able to play it much in the beginning either way.

FYI, unless you're getting 216Mbps down from your ISP, the disc is faster (never mind what the download server is capped at).

So they're actually somewhat addressing this stupid meme of shipping a disc with very little actual content on it, and forcing you to download the entire thing online. Considering that Blu-ray discs are fucking massive, this is interesting. It's like we're back in the PlayStation era.

Pretty sure install disk is to install, then after that use the play disk to play after that.

Halo 4 had two discs too and that's how it worked.

360 had DVD not blu ray. That's probably why there were a few games that had 2 discs. I think 360 ran off disks instead of mandatory install though.
