Board 8 > Tales of Berseria is a very good game.

This is a day late, mainly for the contest crowd who weren't here to see the other 4 times people made this topic, but I felt the need to reiterate.

Velvet earned that win because she's a great protag and Berseria is a great game. Even if you've been burned on Tales post Vesperia, Berseria is the redemption game. If you like jRPGs at all it's one of the generation's best.

I still need to play it. Ive got Graces f, Xillia 1-2 and Berseria all unplayed (more like unfinished in Graces fs case because I played like 80% of it and then put it down for other stuff).

Most of the boring story crowd for Graces seem to be the people who don't like the additional political subtext attached to everything, up to and including the point that Asbel and Co. are basically counted on as a political asset by both of the non-Wind Kingdom factions. The random "...but from SPACE!" doesn't help it much either.

Cast is all fun in isolation though, particularly Pascal and Hubert.

Yeah it was my first Tales game and I enjoyed it a lot. I wouldn't say it's my favorite of the last couple years (cause Cold Steel 2 is better) but it was definitely good and Velvet (and Magilou) were incredible.

I never liked a Tales game before, they had potential but the story always screwed up some pretty big stuff. Berseria basically sticks the landing on all its major plot points, has an amazing cast, and is one of the more thought-provoking RPGs I've played in a while.

I still don't like Tales gameplay though.

Nah. Berseria is solid, but you could make an argument for any mothership title up to ToS except for Zestiria & Legendia...maybe even Xillia 1.

Heck, I still feel Vesperia is the absolute peak of the series when speaking of the "total package."

Vesperia just has too much good content while also having a great cast and combat system. The story is, uh... a bit scattered, but still enjoyable in pieces.

I do think that pretty much every game since Symphonia (sans Symphonia 2, Zestiria and maybe Legendia) is worth playing, though Abyss, Berseria, Xillia 2 and Graces all stand out as particularly great.

Haha, yeah! Vesperia still has my favorite art style/direction of the series and while the game isn't perfect, to me it doesn't have a 'glaring' flaw some of the other games have. (Like you mentioned, the story, particularly Act 3, is the biggest negative I can think of.) I'm so looking forward to Definitive Edition!

I particulaly agree to Abyss and Xillia 2, Xillia 2 is still the most emotionally charged i got in the series specially because i HATE the ending... but it is because of the story, so it is actually a good ending but is just extremely sad in my eyes

I have to agree with him.
Except maybe Dawn of the new world, all Tales games are good games. It's one of my favorite gaming franchises.

Berseria has to be top 5 for me of all Tales games.
