Don't you have to replay that game like 3x to actually finish it?

TC, replay two and three literally add on past the end of play one. They're core parts of the story, and the 9s route in particular has some of the biggest bomb drops near the end.

I really don't get the love for the game at all. I don't think the combat was fun.

Gameplay, atmosphere, story/themes, and music are the biggest draws for the game. Though if you don't find combat fun, then it's best to drop it all together.

One thing that I would recommend for the gameplay is to constantly try different weapons to spice up the gameplay. I feel if you stick with the same weapons throughout the whole thing it can get a bit boring.

I'll give you the 2nd since it's mostly the 1st with a different character, but the 3rd?

I think that sort of game just doesn't work for me at all I guess. I couldn't finish that DMC: DmC game either and didn't get far at all in Bayonetta. Games where you just hit shit a bunch with a lot of arbitrary moves. I thought Metal Gear Rising was amazing though, so I really don't know. I think in MGR:R the fights felt very interactive especially a couple incredibly memorable bosses, while in say Nier Automata it feels like I'm mashing buttons against concrete blocks over and over.

Cute that you think that will get you through the game. That shit will get you killed very often.

Yeah, can't argue with that but not every game needs to be replayable. I still remember the story and characters really well and listen to the music a lot. Not many RPG's are worth playing again; I really need the gambling/competition aspect of an online game to spend hundreds of hours on it

Most Platinum games shine more on higher difficulties. I don't know if it applies to Automata specifically, since heavy customization tends to give way to super busted builds, but a lot of those moves you call arbitrary in Bayonetta are more useful in those higher difficulty modes.

Yeah I find Bayonetta highly replayable because of how the extra difficulty changes up the game and the ranking system but I don't think there's any incentive to replay Automata after you've got the final ending.

At this point it wouldn't matter, but for massive spoiler reasons, I can see why someone would do it again.
