Lots of young people live with their parents nowadays. The days of graduating college, much less high school, and getting a job that can put you on your own just like that are long gone. Given that you are still in school I don't even know why you're worried about it.

I live with my parents now but I guess I wouldn't say I "still" do since I didn't for like eight years

Living with your parents has really become the norm over the past few years. I wouldn't call you a loser since you're trying to better yourself and improve your situation. Once you've become my 32-year old cousin who only works part-time and sits around on her lazy ass full-time, then you've crossed into loser territory.

No that mindset is just an attack on the middle and lower classes, designed to break up family wealth and power. You can't afford home ownership, so you rent making someone else money, meanwhile your mom and dad can't sustain their home with medical bills and increased tax and inflation and the game takes another victim.

This depends on several factors. Some of those are:
Where you live
What you do with your time
The nature of why youre still at home

Where you live is important because the cost of living can vary quite significantly. For example, Im originally from California. Im from a place where you could qualify for food stamps if you made $94,500 per year or less. Pretty much everyone either had rich parents who buy/give them a house, or they live with their parents till pretty far into their career. I chose to move away. I live in Pittsburgh now, on the other side of the country. Here, you can live on pretty much any job. In California, we paid $3,400 for rent every month. Here in Pittsburgh I pay $700 mortgage every month.

As my example shows, locations matters. If youre still at home because the cost of living is insane, thats understandable.

Another important aspect is what youre choosing to do with your time. Do you have a full-time job? Are you saving a significant portion of your income? If you dont have a higher education, are you going to night classes at a community college or trade school? If youre actively putting in a real effort into building yourself up, youre certainly not a loser.

And third, whats the nature of your living situation? Are your parents sick/in need of your care? are you guys on good terms? Are they happy to have you there or are they exasperated?

I live in Pittsburgh now but Im originally from Ventura CA. I totally understand what youre saying. Just FYI there are some things you could do. I moved all the way to Pittsburgh just because I knew Id never be able to afford independent living in california. The cost of living here is 40x better than California. You can actually live a lower-middle-class life on $30k per year. Not sure what your situation is, but its something to consider if you want to change up your life.

In the context that the sentence was presented it implied all his cousin does is sit on her arse. By your logic most folk sit on their arse "full time" as most folk have eight hours out of work a day or at least have a day or two days off work. I stand by what I said. You can't do nothing while actually working. Doesn't matter if it's part time hours or not.

Yet a full time job can be longer hours then that. Still I'm not sure why I'm debating these things with you. If someone said to me that someone sits on their arse full time and does nothing that would imply they are unemployed period. You're just pulling stuff out of your arse to try and sound clever like you always do with this "full time means 40 hours" BS yet ultimately make yourself seem like a twit yet again.

By saying that she sits on her ass full-time, I'm saying that she does nothing else productive with her life. The two phrases are practically synonymous. I was simply being blunt. And no, I'm not English.
