Finally completely caught up again on the Ys series. I'm pretty sure this one was the biggest game yet in the series and also the first time it was fully 3D with a behind the back camera. I did it on a single playthrough on Nightmare difficulty and it ended up taking me about 83 hours. The only complaint I can throw at this game is that the music wasn't up to the standards I come to expect from Ys games. It had a few good tracks here and there like Sunshine Coastline, Deadly Temptation, Smash Up, Next Step Toward the Unknown and A-to-Z, but I felt the rest wasn't up to the standards I hold the Ys series to in terms of music. On the other hand everything else about the game is the best the series has ever been. They really took the elements introducd in Ys Seven (party based combat, resource collecting) and Memories of Celceta (cartography) and polished them up to a quality the series had yet to see until this game.

This platinum was also a comprehensive 100% playthrough. The journal kept track of every little detail in the game and getting all those meters to 100% is what was required for all of them. The list is pretty similar to the list form Memories of Celceta, but highlights included:

- Finishing the story and getting the true ending on Nightmare without changing difficulty
- MAXing out all skills on every character
- Playing each character for 5 hours
- Completing all Castaway and Eternia sidequests
- Clear all Interceptions and Raids
- 100% journal completion (People, items, enemies, cooking, approval rate, treasure chests, map, etc)
- Completing the postgame dungeon and level 99 boss at the end

Anyway now I can get back to finishing up Castlevania Requiem and maybe if I'm lucky Red Dead Redemption 2 will finish installing before then :|

oh yeah the one thing I really liked that no other Ys game had really done before was how with it being a fully 3D game now they really went out of their way to make the map feel like one big area even it really wasn't an open world. No matter where you were on the map the areas out in the distance were modeled with enough detail that you could still make out a lot of the locations and exactly where they were on your map in the case of areas you haven't visited yet
