Current Events > So I finally watched the first episode of The Good Place.

This is a show that always came off as bizarre to me because it looked so incredibly cookie cutter NBC broadcast TV with zero bite. You know how all those prime time TV shows are just so bland and appeal to old people? And yet, everyone online seems to rant and rave about it. Just seemed so weird to me. I mean it looks like something my mom would love and she's in her 70s.

Anyway, I finally gave the first episode a chance. Blew me away. It's amazing and I'm gonna keep watching. Love the concept of the afterlife, love the setup, main character is a real qt3.14, Ted Danson is actually entertaining.

I also finished the first season of Bojack Horseman, which is another show that looked dumb but has high praise. I guess I'm going through all of those lately. Anyway, that's a good enough show, it's funny and all that, I still don't think it's hooked me like it has so many other people. To me it just seems like depression porn. If you love watching characters be super depressed and never happy then it'd be a great show. I think it's funny and I love all the animal jokes, but it's not as deep as I was hoping. It's just Bojak repeatedly realizing he's not happy and not a good person with downer endings.

yea the good place is fantastic, what i love is the pace that the show moves at. it never gets stuck on one plotline, instead they introduce a concept/problem, explore it, and then move on.

dont google anything about the show, it's best to go in blind (especially with the first season)
