Yeah, it's still a MGS collapse even if Snake looks fine. It just means that Smash was able to prop him up so he wasn't relying as much on MGS.

Yeah, Snake is not the barometer one should use for a MGS collapse since he has other sources of strength.

However, it still isn't exactly great news for Snake because I don't know if being in Smash is going to help him when almost all the other elites have Smash ties themselves.

Bowser was about 1.5% better with registered users. This is one of the few times where Pokemon did worse with registered users. Bracket voting might have been a factor in Bowser doing better with registered users.

Kirby did almost 4% better with registered users, and against another Nintendo character too.

It's finally happened for the first time this contest. Double voting has now changed the winner of a match.

Without the double voting, Phoenix Wright would have lost by 28 votes to Ike. Even then, the match becomes so close that Board 8 would have attempted to push for Phoenix at the end of the match and he probably still wins anyways.

We came pretty close just one day earlier when Red would have beaten Sora by only 58 votes without the double voting in place for registered users. So that match didn't have the overall winner changed by this new system.

On today's matches: I think I'd take Garrus > The Boss, but not by this margin. It's one thing to dismiss Zelda's rematch with Ezio due to the apparent fall of Assassin's Creed, but once again Zelda's looking really good against Squall at a time when Nintendo's looking stronger and Square's looking weaker.

Friendly reminder that the Switch is Nintendo's biggest console since early-years Wii, LoZ:BotW is likely Game if the Decade at the moment, and SSBU hype is through the roof for its release next month.

Squall could win, but I doubt it now and I don't know where his x-factors are supposed to be for him here. Maybe SB allows user-pics next round and Zelda gets a poor draw? Maybe Squall gets a starring role in a KH3 trailor? Not sure what else Squall gets in his favor before the match.

I wish I pulled the trigger on shooting for the Zelda > Squall upset.

Well Phoenix Wright vs Ike was one of the frontrunners for me for that rule to tilt so yeah I'm not too surprised. If you'd told me going in that our count of flipped matches in the contest was less than like 5 I may have guessed it as the first. Otherwise I probably would've bit on a R1 match first, though I'm not sure how many R1 matches I actually thought would be that close. Ramza/Garrus I guess. Simon/Hayabusa I thought was flipped by it but I didn't think Hayabusa was at real risk of losing that match before the actual match.

Way to go Phoenix fans. I didn't pick him to beat Ike, but I'm proud of y'all.

I remember trudging out to GameStop one morning in December of 2005 to pick up this weird lawyer game because Board 8 was all hype as shit about it. I ended up hating the gameplay, but the characters and music and story were wacky and fun.

I can't believe we turned the main character of that weird lawyer game into a legitimate contest threat. That's us. WE did that.

Squall had better hope that Garrus overperforms like Master Chief does against a strong opponent. Either that or Squall had better that Zelda is overperforming against The Boss because they're both girls. I would say that is conceivable because Tifa got a really high score in The Boss in 2006.,.. in fact, she got 74.55% on The Boss! Granted, she wasn't very strong back then, plus, MGS/FF SFF happens on occasion (I think?), but still, one year later she DID tie with Tails and merely avoided a doubling against.... aw, crap... Zelda? Dang it! The theory doesn't look as likely now. I guess Squall has to hope the first theory is true.

When does Round 4 begin?

Jesus looks like D.Va is going to L-Block it up again despite being up against another strong early vote. She just completely falls off a cliff after the first couple of hours of the match. It's kinda incredible.
