I don't see how it isn't but I know CE might find a way to say it's not. If it's not can you explain why?

It's a hollow victory for everyone.

Dems get the house. GOP gets the senate.

We're in a gridlock for a long time.

If for nothing else it's a victory because now there will actually be some oversight of the executive branch. The GOP pretty much abdicated it's responsibility there when it came to Trump.

Better than letting Trump and his cronies have their way, tbh.

It's a win for everybody.

The Democrats won just enough to insure that nothing actually happens for the next two years, but not so much that they can actually do anything worthwhile or worse, back crazy-ass Trump into a corner.

It is a win. They took the House.

It's not a blue wave. Not close to it. Also if they just stonewall for two years, they are guaranteeing a GOP win across the board in 2020.

I want gridlock, **** Trump and his poisonous agenda. If the Democrats can stonewall the orange muppet at every turn, they have my vote again for 2020.

The Democratic rule of the House is a two-year window. They're going to have to fight all over again in 2020 and when that rolls around they're going to have to swim against Trump's campaigning overshadowing it.

The fact they couldn't take the Senate is more damning. They won't get another crack at that until 2024. The 2012 Class 1 races (the Class being contested this year) were more blue than the Class 2s come 2020 (plus in that race John McCain's seat will be up for grabs too, which could deepen the divide unless Arizona is in the mood to go blue).

Not really, the republicans obstructed for 8 fucking years of Obama and still came out on top.

I think the Senate will stay Republican through 2020. The seats up for grabs there are primarily Republican (with John McCain's seat adding one more red that wouldn't be up for grabs otherwise). The shift is going to be harder in 2020 than it is now with Trump's base out to reelect him. If they couldn't pull it off this year I don't see it happening in 2020.

Though for some reason I forgot there's going to be a Senatorial race in 2022. That could change things, looking at the map (still Republican but not as bad as the Class 2 race in 2020).

Overall, yes it's a win.

Senate was a long shot anyway, and very few serious people said the Dems were going to take the Senate.

If it stops the GOP from getting everything it wants, it's a win.

That said, losing more seats in the Senate is not good, no matter how you slice it. There's a difference between "nobody thought they were going to take the Senate" and "I'm OK with them losing three more seats in the Senate"
