So do you think you'll see abortion clinics right on the border between states that allow and don't? Like fireworks sellers?

That's fine. Federal government, well, state too, has too much say in how other people choose to live as it is.

Isnt federal government saying youre allowed to have abortions less restrictive than the potential state governments that will try to ban it?

I included state as well as federal because I think both are obtrusive. If I were a woman I wouldn't let a government dictate what I can and can't do with my body.

This seems like you're trying to get me to endorse illegal activity. I'm simply saying an individual's body should not be the subject of restrictive laws. I am against that, yes.

I know what the Torah is. The Torah is special because it gives rules that were important in a nomadic tribal society (things like don't lie, steal, or kill, and also things like don't eat blood and what to do with mold). It's also where people people get these "rules" of modern Christianity, although this is the first time that I've heard it justifies abortion.

I know you are being intentionally dishonest, or hypocritical at best, but other rules in the Torah include that homosexuality is wrong, don't to plant your field with different seeds, and don't wear clothing made of more than one material.

In any case, none of this is Christianity. If you want to respond by saying that Jesus said whoever sets aside the least of these rules will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, I'll leave you with this

For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

There has got to be ways to cut the abortion rate to the point that this discussion doesn't even happen. Birth control dispensers in schools, thorough sex education, people more willing to practice safe sex.

Both ends of this debate are emotional responses. I personally can't even watch an abortion procedure without feeling a massive amount of sadness over take me. Hell, I can't watch children being horridly mistreated, but I don't have the means to help them.

It's just unfortunate that some of these little lives aren't wanted. I wish it never got that point. I wish that people who don't want children simply do everything within their power to minimize the risks of a pregnancy.

Thats not how it works though. If youre stuck in the middle of Texas what are you going to do? If youre too poor or cant take time off of work to travel to another state what are you going to do? If your family is actively trying to prevent you from getting an abortion and the nearest clinic is 8 hours away over in the next state, what are you going to do?

The two aren't mutually exclusive.

You can ban the abortions themself, while also improving access to (and education around) contraception and/or support for those who end up with a child but have legitimate difficulty supporting them. In fact, I'd say implementing the ban without taking those kind of steps as well, would be a really dumb move.

Step 1. Republicans publicly claim to support abortion.

That's all. Democrats will now support the bill as a knee-jerk reaction just for the sake of disagreeing. By the time it gets to the Senate and Republicans have to reveal the plan, it's too late for Democrats to stop it.

Availability of these things is a huge problem in some places; doubly so for those who are underage. (You can argue all you like that "well they shouldn't be having sex then!", but that doesn't change that they're going to do so anyway. Best thing that can be done is make sure they've got access to contraception.)

Are parents of an underage girl more likely to take her to an appointment to get contraception before she's pregnant, or to take her to one to get an abortion when she already is?

You'd hope the answer would be the former, but sadly, it isn't.

Something like being able to get contraception anonymously (or at least, discreetly and without it being disclosed to parents / etc) through schools could go a long way to helping here.

NO. Bunch of FREELOADING infants!

Also

Want to lower abortion rates?
Maybe actually teach safe sex practices in abstinence-only states, which, shockingly, are comprised of mostly bible thumpers yet have the highest teen pregnancy rates.

I get it, if it's true. I don't like condoms, and birth control has negative affects on my wife, but I pulled out and just sprayed on her belly. We didn't get pregnant until we were ready.

I can't understand pride in abortions, tho. It feels, to me, that people who are so nonchalant about it are just a little bit morally bankrupt. But what the hell do I know? Not much, I guess.
