Yeah, they're perfectly fine you like the formula. The controls are okay within the context of being touch, but aren't as good as a real controller. I bought 1-6, Tactics WotL, and Dimensions (?) and think they're fun. I also have DQ 4-6 and 8.
A really underrated JRPG that translated way better than you'd think is Lunar: SSS. I like that you have a separate part of the screen for buttons so you're not putting your thumbs where you're also trying to see. I'd recommend it and Chrono Trigger most of all, probably. Ive only played the original port and Record Keeper on iOS. The original played perfectly and Record Keeper was freakin awesome

honestly, just get an emulator on your phone and get whatever rpg you want.
rpgs are like the only game genre that work really well with a touch screen controller. I will add that I think i had ff1 and 2 and iphone and the touch controls were nice for the game because you could just touch the list. I'm pretty sure it was ff1 and ff2.
