I mean yeah it kinda is, but if you have to be subscribed to multiple services to maybe watch or listen to whatever it is because things that are on one service might not be on another and it varies between countries what's available to watch/listen to.

And they can take anything they want to off the service at anytime, either because of contracts running out and not being renewed or whoever owns the stuff decides to take it off for whatever reason.

So i don't know why people seem to think streaming is a thing that's the ultimate way to enjoy songs or movies & TV shows.

It is, but it's also becoming as balkanized and terrible as the cable TV we replaced it with.
Don't ever carry along more than two streaming services, or maybe three if you're paying amazon mostly for the two-day shipping.

Streaming tv shows and movies for free is hella convenient, but I agree that its not convenient at all to subscribe to 5 different streaming services

Like Spotify for example, songs and albums are restricted to certain countries for some of them.

And then if the contracts for this stuff isn't renewed after the time comes, then its gone or the owners remove it for whatever reason then there's nothing Spotify can do about it.

Only problem with streamed content is how compressed the audio is. Even the big 4k HDR streams on netflix sound like garbage on my system compared to 4k bluray discs played through my Oppo 203.

Thats because when it was a new thing it was super convenient as you found everything on one place. Then businesses realized that the only reason people were buying their cable services is because they had no other option. So instead of improving their services they decided to make streaming bad and make stuff exlusive so you will be forced to still purchase from them

That's really the biggest problem with streaming services, you can just kinda lose a show at any time and be screwed even if you've been watching it

Plex + a big HDD + ripping all your DVDs in Handbrake = the best way to watch stuff these days
