Of course, the fact that Victoria's Secret is a pop cultural leader is the exact reason why so many believe it has a duty to at least attempt to get with the times and show some support for diversity. And, hopefully, to do it in a way that isn't about tokenism, pandering, or simply marketing. After all, not only do all different type of women buy lingerie, but many different women, plus-size and trans included, have successful modeling careers with dedicated fanbases who very much would like to see those models reach what they perceive to be the pinnacle of the industry. To imply that using a trans model or a plus-size model would ruin a "fantasy" and then to expect to get no criticism for it is its own kind of twisted fantasy.

That's a perfectly understandable stance to make. It's laughable that the article says people want them to get with the times on diversity but not in a pandering way. With women's modeling, that's literally the only way it will happen. Body positivity is like a mental disease.

Like... my wife (who modeled in her late teens) told me the reason most super models are super thin is that they want to showcase the clothes as opposed to the women. You almost WANT walking mannequins instead of people with curves.

You arent selling clothes for everyone. Victoria Secrets might be different, but high fashion at least doesnt actually give a fuck about selling anyone anything.
