Samsung Galaxy S5/Android

It's random too. Some days, it'll be perfectly normal and then other days (like today) it's gone from fully charged to 81% in the last hour and I have barely even used it.

I exit my programs so they're not running in the background.

I replaced the battery a few months ago and nothing has changed.

Even looking at the battery details since last fully charged:
- App optimization 3%
- Android System 2%
- Android OS 1%
- Screen 1%
Doesn't even total to the 19% it's lost!

Any ideas on what I can do, or where to look at what's causing this issue? Is it just time for a new phone?

If your signal is dodgy your phone can guzzle the juice trying to find one. That'd be my best bet since you say it's inconsistent from day to day.

That would make sense. Both my wifi/signal is spotty at times where I live (I constantly get the "Connected to X network" after using my phone for a few minutes).

Is there a way I can turn something down or off so it's not constantly looking for something?

Do you use Messenger? That thing drains the battery like crazy, and if you get a varying amount of messages on different days it will cause your battery usage to fluctuate by a great degree.

I mean you can turn data off on most android phones by swiping down and pressing the data icon (second column). It can help I do that when I don't intend to use the internet in places where the signal is bad sometimes if I'm far from the charger. Anything more advanced I haven't looked into, but it may exist.

Also make sure Bluetooth and wireless are off

The first thing I thought of when I saw that title was a stock Because you touch yourself at night kneejerk. Then I realized that it actually could be a legit argument.

Had this issue on my Nexus 5. My battery would constantly drain, even if I didn't touch it. Battery report under settings didn't list anything. My only solution was turning the phone off and then on again. That temporarily would fix the problem, but eventually the triggering event would happen and it would start again. Also, I always had WiFi/Bluetooth off, so it likely wasn't those. I had the phone 2.5 years and never figured out the problem, but my guess was location. The only non-Google apps I really used were TransitApp, Yahoo Mail, and ESPN. Could have just been a bad or old battery, I got the phone new, but it was 2 years after release. I upgraded to a Moto X4 in August and have much better battery life now.

On my galaxy s7 the battery was dying in like 8 hours. I pulled out the SD card which wasn't reading anyways and the battery life was amazing afterwards

All new smartphones drain their batteries fast. Especially if you have a lot of stuff turn on. I mean I have the light on screen as low as possible, I barely use Wi-Fi, I don't talk or text and it ends in like 3 days! And I don't use any other stuff!

There was time when my previous phone just stopped charging altogether, even replaced the battery and that didn't help.
