I said no more buys. Not sells. I was greedy and overbought during this period. Dipped into my cash reserves early when I could've waited and got a better price.

I always take small percentages out of my portfolio as the down trend becomes stronger. I was out 20% of my portfolio and back into cash by the end of October. We had a great rebound last week, I was waiting to get back in if the rally continued this week, but if this keeps up Im going to pull out a bit more from my portfolio.

Spy is down. The market is down.

It kept bouncing off the 271 support lines today.

I ended the day up 1.2%. Let's not talk about yesterday tho.

But yeah stop buying total market etfs if you think the market is going to continue downward and you can't stomach it.

Or just buy inverse etfs. The 20% I took out is gonna go into some inverse etfs for me, should've done that already tbh, would be a great hedge for the other 80% of my portfolio

I bought it because I thought it was going to go back up. I've been investing for 6 years, and this is the first time I've seen overall losses in my buys.

i should be clear that i'm not criticizing you - you're not the one talking about stupid shit like support levels for spy
just that it's been a pretty easy market for equity longs in the past 6 years

Seriously, you didnt even have to think about selling at basically any time in the last 9 years(with the exception of 2016 perhaps), I believe this is the longest bull run in the entirety of the stock market history, I pray its not over lol

I've lost faith in the company so I'm going to pass. I also just looked, and it's still overpriced. Why does it have a 71 PE ratio? What else can it grow?

Unfortunate where you overextended, but that's not terrible. You don't need the money now right? You see any quality names starting to look attractive from broad sell offs or still too salty for that now lol

Nah. I still have my cash buffer. I usually invest in 5k chunks as I get it from my salary, but I pulled from the buffer several times recently because I was scared the price would go back up. Turns out the risk was for the worse.

No individual stock has caught my eye lately which is weird because I was all individual stocks for like 4 years.

i can't talk about what's in my portfolio at work (fixed income rv stuff mostly that's boring anyway)

in my PA i basically allocate my capital tactically to liquid asset classes (market indices, govt bonds, fx, etc)
right now i'm basically short most things (i dont trade single names)
short us equities (although less short than i was a month ago), short euro rates, short JGBs, short DM euro sovvies, short euro and pound
i'm long a few things - aussie bonds, gilts, canadian bonds, and obviously usd through my short euro/short gbp positions
oct was a good month for me, nov i've given back a bit so far
