I normally play on emperor and I absolutely piss on the AI and run away with the game and its not even remotely close

Ive tried two or three times over the past week or so to go one step up and play Immortal and I just get steamrolled by AI but moreso sidetracked by raging barbarians in the very early game.

what the hell? What kind of difficulty curve is that? How do people even get up to deity?

It's a huge ass overhaul for Civ 5. It's basically the ultimate Civilization experience because at the very least the AI won't be keeping Archers around while you're in the modern era

They have one for civ 6?

If anything Id rather stay on the difficulty Im at but just have the AI be more competitive

Ive been working my way up there. Sadly... or hilariously... Sadly hilariously...? Anyway this is pretty much the only version of Civ that Ive ever been able to get a handle on the AI regularly and with ease, which makes me just think the AI is not smart. But I have a habit of getting bored pretty easily once I start steamrolling everyone and just quit and come back way later when Ive forgotten everything about my save and just start over. Because of that I havent gotten all the achievements for wins at lower levels yet and am definitely not playing on Emperor yet.
