Board 8 > What are your favourite indie games of 2018?

I'm big into roguelikes, and of the three in my list you could call roguelikes (Into the Breach, Dead Cells, Cultist Simulator), Dead Cells was probably my least favourite!

But yeah it's 100% your bag. it's less Metroidvania and more Castlevania as a roguelike.

Dead Cells feels a bit different from other roguelikes. Less focused on randomness/variation and more focused on combat. That's how I felt at least.

i bought CrossCode but haven't started it, because whenever i open steam i end up playing Slay the Spire.

Slay the spire is definitely last year because I logged 100 hours by thanksgiving

The funny thing about it is that early access games are great imo. I love playing a game during its development, seeing new content the devs put out, being able to discuss the game's growth with the community and even give input to devs. In a way, good early access games feel very much alive whereas a game that has been "fully released" sort of experiences a death in a way. I don't really perceive early access as the game "not being released."

Yeah I was so hype for 3rd character and by the time he got there I was just burnt out so I'm taking a long break. Official release sounds like a good time to get to it again

My break from Spire hasn't been long, I played the game pretty regularly for pretty close to a year before not playing it for about a month right now
