If you're into mini series, go with Band of Brothers and The Pacific. 10 episodes each, around an hour long.

Although watch Band of Brothers first. The Pacific has a slightly different tone that you won't appreciate unless you watch BoB first.

24 season one is near perfect. Eastbound & Down season one is also great. They're both self-contained stories that do not require season two follow-ups (in fact they dilute the first seasons). 24 is 24 hour-long episodes and E&D is 6 half-hour episodes. Can't recommend them enough.

Oh yeah and Beavis and Butt-head is the best show to ever air. The Mike Judge Collection is the best way to go about watching it. It culls the very best episodes (pretty much the whole first season is really bad but it found its groove, which is what you get with the Collection). Nothing else in this life is funny enough to still put me out of breath from laughing 25 years later.

Thousand times this. IIRC the only reason it was produced as a shitty broadcast network procedural was because CBS, but the writing is absurdly good.

disagree. the bad guys in the blacklist are so good they contribute to making an overall great show and more than makes up for the noobie supporting cast.
