I used to be a socialist but now Im a liberal. The difference (not saying this to troll or meme) was getting a real job instead of just doing chores for my parents/asking really nicely for money. (I work in a warehouse and make 5 dollars over minimum wage with a paid half hour break every 2 hours )

This makes sense. If you're someone who has worked steadily at a decent job and you're responsible enough to save and invest, then you get sick of the non-productive members of society thinking they should get everything for free.

Oh, I will unabashedly admit that I hate being around poor people. They are generally badly behaved, unkempt, uneducated, and uncultured. Like, I suggest we go out to a nice meal, and they flip their shit "IT COSTS $150???". I honestly can't stand it. All of my friends these days are at least upper middle class and have been met through my work.

Depends on your income level. Once you are well-off, denying yourself pleasures because you are still hung up on what the price *used* to mean to you is unfortunate and will prevent you from being able to fully enjoy your wealth.

Not spending an absurd amount on food is not denying yourself pleasures. Spend a reasonable amount on food and go do some fun things instead. The purpose of having wealth is to not have to work later on in life, anything else is meaningless.

The first part of your post is what I am talking about. Low income people arent able to enjoy luxuries because they can't stop thinking about the price. Yes, a $150 meal is generally superior to a $20 meal. Is it proportionally better? No. But if you can afford it, you might as well pay for the bit of added benefit.

As for the purpose of wealth, that is 100% subjective. Plenty of people keep working once they are rich. To me, the purpose of wealth is for me to be able to do whatever I want whenever I want, and to enjoy the best things the world has to offer. I do not view working as inherently bad, and I do not hate my job.
