The two best chess players in the world are playing their 25 min rapid games today after 12 straight draws in the regular format over the past 3 weeks. Its a best of 4 series to decide the title. Magnus took the first game and they just started the second.

If you are a fan of chess or play at all today is a good day to watch. The chess network has a good stream on twitch.

This series has been good and finishing in rapids should allow for some drama today. Anyone else watching?

I didn't agree with the comments that a lot of people were making following that 12th game. They were slamming him as if he made some kind of mistake or wasn't really trying. He knew he had a big advantage in the shorter time controlled games and made a rational decision to draw and move to that format. He played it safe in the format that he was weaker in so that he could have an advantage in the tie breakers. Its makes sense and you can't really hate on him for it.

People say there should be an incentive for them to try to take some risks to get a win in the traditional games but I don't know. I thought this series, with 12 ties, was really fun to watch.

I'm not good at chess and have really only gotten into it seriously (somewhat) in the last year so I don't have the historical perspective but it seems like that was a really good match for the chess world.
