The scene in the Temple of the Ancients with Cait Sith is fucking stupid. He's a worthless character to begin with and I'm supposed to feel all emotional because he's sacrificing his body to get the black materia despite the fact that he shows back up 1 minute later?

Was that supposed to be funny?

Also Jesus H. FUCKING Christ at the start of the Huge Materia quest. It's a 25 minute long scene of dialogue.

Square did a much better job with pacing in FF9 and X

I don't get why they kept in in the party.

When Reeve was arrested how was he still controlling Cait Sith?

I hate Cait Sith. I mostly just try to forget about him.

Forces his way into your party
Immediately betrays you
Nobody cares
Ends up not mattering anyway
Volunteers to solve puzzles because it's remote controlled
Supposed to be emotional death scene even though just said it was remote controlled
Hey look it's Cait Sith number 2

Like literally what was the point of any of that?

Also it was a total Old Man Jenkins moment.

I was literally like "who?"

Even on countless replays I have no idea who Reeve is supposed to be except some Turk we just made up because CS needed a secret identity.

I literally don't think he even appears anywhere except the scene where he gets arrested

I've been replaying FF7 after like 18 years and damn, the plot just barely makes sense. Did the kid me just gloss over the weird things in this narrative?

The most ridiculous part of FF7

Hojo sticking Red and Aeris into a chamber together for the explicit purpose of producing offspring.

Cait Sith as a party member is pretty dumb. I wish they had more scenes showing what Reeve was doing back in Midgar, it'd be far more interesting to see more of how he develops from someone grudgingly going along with things against his morals because he thinks he can still help by being part of Shinra, to actively aiding you against Shinra after the North Crater, essentially becoming your very own double agent among the enemy.

Uh, he took Marlene and Elmyra hostage to ensure Cloud had no choice.

Reeve wasn't a Turk, he has head of Shinra Urban Development. He's the only voice of dissent in the company when Heidegger and President Shinra discuss plans to drop the Sector 7 plate.

He gets shut down again at the meeting in Shinra HQ when he wants to rebuild Sector 7 and the President says lol no, full speed ahead to the Promised Land and Neo Midgar instead.

That's it for actually seeing Reeve though, he definitely could have benefited from more scenes prior to his arrest to flesh out his change of heart.
