Snake's boost was because of Nintendo. Put him against Nintendo and he reverts to pre-Brawl strength. We've seen it way too often.

Absolutely. 2006 Samus was garbage (by her standards) going into that Snake match, and it was never a contest.

When you get IT'S FREAKING SAMUSed, something is worrisome.

What did you dislike with Bowser's performance on Charizard? Are you including Bowser's result against Crono as being dubious?

I was so proud of myself for going ahead with the Pikachu > MM upset, but I did not have the foresight to take Zelda here, sadly. My bracket is close to getting on the leaderboard, but Zelda winning is probably going to mess it up too much to salvage. Hard to root against her, though. I rooted for Zelda to beat Snake way back in the day of their first match.

Heavily disagree with that interpretation. Auron did 'okay' against Lucina and Vincent, underperformed a lot against Sub-Zero, and then let Geralt get 47% on him. Rosalina is currently projected to get like 41% on Sonic. Even if you assume that Auron hasn't dropped at all, he's still underperforming relative to 2013 stats. On the other hand, Bowser obliterated Gordon and Charizard, then beat Kirby. The only dubious match he had was 2B.

It's just a bad performance. Sonic is looking like he's easily the weakest of the Noble Nine after today.

If we think Auron's completely fine like you said, then Magus got a massive boost. In that case, Crono should be better than ever, so I don't think the Bowser vs Crono result looks dubious at all.

2B's a new character, with unknown strength, so I don't wouldn't place too much emphasis on that.

I suppose the issue with Charizard is that Terra got 47% on him. I agree it's a bit strange, but with how good Old Square and the FF girls have looked, she could have boosted.

Zelda is a side character. If that name really mattered she would have been worth more before this year. Sonic is a big name so should win these types of splits vs side characters. Mega Man embarrassed her in 03. She's not bulletproof in SFF matches by any means against characters with higher pedigree

A 'side character' (which is doing the character a disservice considering how many games she's in) from the Zelda series (who is literally named Zelda) is higher up on the Hierarchy that a character who isn't even full Nintendo, just like a Bowser is higher up on the hierarchy than Kirby because Mario>Kirby even if Bowser isn't Mario.

I'm just saying if you dumb down the Mario vs Samus matchup to the point where, frankly, I feel a lot of people who picked Mario did, it feels a lot to me like the Sonic vs Zelda matchup. Something that feels too much like an "only on GameFAQs" result to feel like it should be a likely result. It fails the eyeball test pretty hard to me. I'm not saying it can't happen but I do think Sonic is being grossly underestimated.

Metal Gear Solid is popular and all but I wouldn't really call it on that level. Sonic is the face of the console wars of yore. Snake is just a well liked character. He's more akin to your Sephiroths and Clouds or Samuses. The eyeball test doesn't really apply to them.

Sonic is the ultimate has-been. Calling him the Face of the Console Wars of Yore is giving him way too much credit. That sort of thing is way in the past. You put Mario against Sonic and Mario against Zelda, and Sonic gets SFFd more.

Also if Sonic wants to end this match even looking slightly respectable, he should probably stop dropping percentage even before the deep night vote comes.

Does Sonic SFF top Nintendo characters? Off the top of my head, I suppose there's that Sonic & Robotnik destroying Kirby & Meta Knight result in 2011, but Samus seems to have no trouble with Sonic at least.

A bit more faith than in Ganondorf but yeah. Let's put her to the test first before calling it a given she holds because her name is Zelda.

She certainly could. I'm not saying Sonic beating Zelda by more than Auron is a certainty but I do think there's a decent possibility of it happening.
