I feel like Sora probably would've been in that group as well had the first contest started just a few months later; KH was already out in Japan at the time, but nowhere else, and Sora hasn't missed a single Character Battle since then or even come close (1-seed this year and in 2010; 2-seed in 2013 when the 1-seeds were automatically reserved for the Noble Nine.) In addition to Sora; Luigi, Bowser, Yoshi, Ganondorf, Auron and Master Chief also only missed 2002, which is why I pointed that out specfically. CATS was from 2006 and until missing 2010 due to vote-ins the 17th.
