Should I get 12 Zodiac for PS4? I've heard mixed things about 12.

I just bought X/X-2 HD for the PS4.

I tried to play X-2 in high school but I couldn't get into it. I love X so much that it's hard to play the same setting with upbeat peppy music and a radically different gameplay style.

But of those 3, 12 zodiac is actually worthy. It's story is meh, but the game actually feels like a final fantasy game.

Swap IX with VI and that top 5 is exactly the same as mine (I loved IX, but VI will always be my personal favorite).

XII is definitely worth playing. And I would say even XV was pretty good (or at least better than VIII and XIII).

Maybe it's just an age thing with me? It's so hard coming from the traditional JRPGs of the 90s and early 00s that I loved as a teenager to playing something like 13.

10's battle system was perfect IMO. I wish Square Enix would give us another Final Fantasy game with that system. It could even be a spinoff series that plays like the older ones.

9 and 10 are absolute masterpieces.

10 has the best story of any FF game IMO.

along with 6 those are definitely the best 3 in the series IMO. Chrono Trigger is the only game Square has worked on that beats them out.

2 is the worst

Yeah, story wise FFXIV is probably the best of any MMO. It's insanely story driven. I prefer it to any FF made post X for sure.

FFXIV is really good. The only game I've ever played that I put 1000+ hours into.

Also I will defend FFX-2 forever. It really is a good game!

X-2 was corny but fun to play. My only issue is that it was way too easy overall

I think 10 has a slightly better story (like 100/100 to 99.9/100) but 9 (and 6) have better gameplay, music, a better world, etc...

9's setting is the best in the series IMO. I absolutely love how there's little to no backtrack except to advance the plot via dialogue. 7's entire later half is all backtracking to spots you've been to.

9 goes from point A to point B with little divergence.

For me, highest to lowest:

FFX - The sheer awesomeness of the battle system alone earns it this spot, though I feel it'd also qualify even with a more-typical FF battle system.
FF6
FFX-2 - This one is pretty much riding on its gameplay alone; its story can eat a fat dick. That's how good the gameplay is.
FF8
FF9
FF7

Note that I'm not saying FF7 is bad. It's still a very good game. Just not as good as the other ones.

Also played but couldn't stay interested: I, IV, V, XII, XIII
Never played at all: II, III, XI, XIII onwards

10 is kind of the Majora's Mask of the FF series IMO. I think it's a lot darker and gloomier than the rest of the series (that I've played at least)

9 is one of my favorite games of all times. Like, it's very very special to me, maybe more than any other game I've ever played.

The only real dropped ball of the plot in my mind are the plots for Freya and Armarant. Armarant just doesn't have a whole lot to him at all, but Freya is probably my favorite character in the game for the first half of it because of her story, and then it just sort of... Stops. And never picks back up. It's really weird because she gets more focus than just about anyone for a chunk of the game, and then they just sort of peter off.

I've always wondered if there was cut content related to her.
