Next to the Mii Swordfighter in the World of Light, there's another fighter icon, and the way to it is through a tunnel. Does anyone know where the entrance to the other side of the tunnel is? I'm gonna guess it's on the other side of the light ravine.

I'm a complete noob when it comes to anything other than surface level Smash, and I want to learn, so I have some questions. I watch a bunch of Melee but I never really paid attention to the advanced stuff.

I've seen "tilt" and "smash" a lot online, and the difference seems to be that you are just pressing the button for a tilt and holding the button for a smash, is that correct? This might be a dumb question, but the "button" that is being referred to here is the basic attack button (A), right? Attacks with (B) are specials? What are the control stick attacks called?

Are there specific situations where I should be using tilts or smashes, assuming it's a different version of the same attack? Is spamming special attacks ever a good idea, or should I be mostly using basic attacks? This is all for the purpose of fighting other people, not the CPU.

Everywhere online mentions these but I need it dumbed down a step further and nowhere actually does that.

Opposite. A tilt is holding the stick, a Smash is flicking/"smashing" it. And yes, basic is A, B is special.

The right stick are just smash attacks for people who have issue doing the button.

like kirby his up tilt he'll bring his foot behind him for a small kick up

while his up smash he does a somersault kick

Tilts and Smashes are two different attacks.

A tilt is when you lightly press/tilt/hold the stick in a direction and hit A. They're faster/weaker than Smashes.

A Smash is when you flick the stick and hit A. They're stronger and tend to cover more area, but are slower. They can also be charged by holding A and then releasing it.

The right stick attacks are the same as the Smash attacks. They just can't be charged, I believe. It's just an easier way to do Smash attacks.

Smash is when you move the left stick while simultaneously pressing or holding ther A button.

Tilt is when the left stick isn't moved all the way, or is held before pressing the attack button.

Easy way to discover the difference is by using Samus. Her tilt side special is a homing missile, and the smash side special is a super missile.

Oh, yeah. They're the same other than I don't think you can charge the right stick version, but I may be wrong on that since I rarely use it.

Well, yeah. It should be clarified you need to flick and press A at the same time. The stick shouldn't be released before you push A.

People just use the term "flick" because it typically gives the person the right idea that they're using more force instead of just gently moving the stick like a tilt.

It's on a character by character basis, but mostly you can't. Samus has tilt/smash inputs for her side special to determine what type of missile she shoots, Simon/Richter has it to determine how far he throws his cross, and...that's all I can think of (barring Ryu/Ken, but they're a whole separate can of worms that you don't need to worry about unless you're trying to learn one of them). A few special moves can be angled a bit as well, but that's mostly up specials where you can adjust the angle they travel at to help recover better.

They changed the behavior on Lucario's up special at least. At higher % the same motion that used to slightly change direction now causes him to do a full 180 and suicide.

Mind you, they also changed how far his counter travels at higher percents. So when I actually counter with it as edge guard protection, sometimes it works and just sends me all the way to death before I regain control.

It is so demoralizing to actually get a kill with it and then fly all the way to my death before being able to press a button.

I think everyone has a random order of characters that classic mode unlocks, and if you unlock the first one the list, it goes down until there's someone you haven't unlocked.

I still have loads to unlock. I think maybe 20 left? I'm enjoying Simon Belmont a ton though. He's my Adventure mode guy since his keepaway is so useful. I'm still too afraid to try using his whip for recovery, so I'm going to practice with that before I play again.

So who feels different in this game? Luigi feels very different to me from Brawl for a lot of reasons I can't figure out. The main reason is that his Down B doesn't let him hover now. I used that so much and I don't get why they removed it from him. I feel like Snake is very different too, again, for reasons I can't put my finger on.

Luigi feels a lot stronger to me, I couldn't stand him in the previous two games but he feels a little more like his 64/Melee version again. Ness/Lucas' PK Thunder seems like it works differently too, or at least I keep killing myself with it when I used to be able to use it fairly well.

Also as a former Ike main I'm not sure how I feel about his new Uair. Seems worse but I'll give it more time.

Ganoncide kills Ganon first now, which is completely fair and a good change and I hate it. <_<

This is true for Bowser too and is true for Ridley's too. Ridley's is absolutely paralyzing though when you use it on a flat level the goes to the end of the stage because you have to watch him glide across the whole length of the level knowing you screwed up.

Oh, and Dedede feels different too. Like his forward smash feels a hell of a lot slower, which is weird and I feel absolutely no confidence landing it now. But on the plus side, I think it hits above him and during the whole swing now.

Oh, and is there any word that the final smash charges are allowed in pro play? I frankly can't understand if they don't allow it because it feels absolutely fair and not unlike any comeback mechanic in most games.

If they turn it off in pro play it is absolutely just Pro Smash players being the worst ever.

So I read that Robin's WoL unlock is in Dracula's Castle and that it doesn't show up on the map until after some enemy or something appears? For the GMUNs or anyone else that are far enough in, what's the fastest way to make that happen?

I just went into the dungeon that had the three seals on it, is beating this how I move towards Robin? This is only the second dungeon I've entered aside from the lava fortress (well third I guess, since the Street Fighter thing seems to count as one). There are still portions of the map I haven't really touched, like the spooky forest area.

I've been getting a little bored of running through all these fights as primarily only Villager and Lucario, so I started switching a bit. I've learned I kinda like Bowser, that I'm not good with Peach, and that it's fun to throw enemies up as Pikachu and then hit with Thunder. What I also like about Pikachu is I can equip the B special boost, Down special boost, and Electric Attack boost spirits all together, lol. I think I'll give Ryu a shot soon.

This is not where Robin is unlocked. In it you get Simon and Pit.

Ok. I've cleared Classic with every character. Which means I've played every character. So a few impressions

1) As I said earlier in the topic, basically every single super-heavy character feels immensely satisfying to play, which they didn't in basically any other iteration of the game.
2) A few characters still strike me as completely pointless for varying reasons. I didn't notice a single mechanical difference between Ryu/Ken and Richter/Simon while playing their Classic modes. Lucina as a character still literally has no reason to exist. Villager is just an awful waste of space, as is Wii Fit Trainer. Why are Dark Pit and Dark Samus completely separate characters?
3) There are only like four characters (Villager, WFT, Robin, Pichu) I'd complain about if the random button gave to me when playing with friends, which for a cast of like 70 is pretty good.

I like Wii Fit Trainer a lot. I can't play her for shit, but she's super fun.

And I think Echo Fighters are mostly just that their moves look much more different, which is why they warrant their own character. I do wish they made something different with their mechanics though. Even if slightly.

Ryu can throw a red fireball with half circle forward and Ken throws a powered up axe kick instead. Ken's Shoryuken is significantly better as well in terms of damage and knockback. They've also got a fairly decent amount of different A attacks. I believe Ken's hurricane kick has a slightly different trajectory too.

Basically they're about as different as you can expect them to be without them radically changing Ken for the sake of being different. If you actually play Street Fighter you can tell pretty easily. Can't speak for Richter/Simon as I haven't unlocked Richter yet but I imagine there are a lot of differences there too.
