Baby Boomers grew up to become soulless money grubbing people who are miserable in life.

Look at how many of them got divorced as they got older due to overworking themselves and chasing crap like RVs and boats to impress their neighbors.

Millennials get pleasure from experiences vs having 2 living rooms with all kinds of expensive furniture to show off during house parties.

I want this and I'm a millenial. Experiences don't build wealth. Millenials waste their money on crap and that's why most are broke.

Why? Buy a bunch of shit you don't need just to show it off to a bunch of fake people?

Agreed. I like having nice things, but I think most of the criticism is from the millennials who managed to evade being in special ed classes and think paying $1000 for an iPhone X is cool, when reality is no one with a triple digit IQ actually gives a fuck and you couldve literally spent $500 on a phone that does damn near the same thing.

That said $500 isnt cheap (and Ive never spent that much on a phone) but its less of a waste of money and buys you another $500 towards say.... a vacation.

The thing too is that boomers could build wealth and acquire appreciating assets early on in life much more easily, and later in life they've had more disposable income to travel, go on vacations, or retire and do whatever. Millennials with stagnant wages who can't even afford down payments on houses (there are many) aren't building wealth nearly as quickly and won't have as much money to spend on experiences or retirement later in life. And that's not even bringing children into the equation.

This is huge too. If you dont go to college youre pretty much fucked as far as making a livable wage. Livable as in, you can afford everything you need, most things you want, and you have money left over when next paycheck comes.

If you do go to college, thats great, you are now able to ask for $15/hr and working for a piddly piss ass $10 for a futile attempt to pay rent and not have enough to buy groceries is a thing of the past.

The downside? Someone who graduated college in the 80s made the same as you make in the 2010s as a college graduate and guess what? $15/hr bought a while fuckload more back then than it does today, things like houses, or college tuition.

Do Americans really have to choose between vacation/travel and having money? I thought you were a rich country?

The difference is, a lot of Baby Boomers worked their asses off in their 30's and 40's in order to accumulate the wealth that allows them to live that sort of lifestyle. Millennials seem to just want to skip straight to the "I should only have to do what I want to do" phase of life right out of the gate, and it doesn't work like that.

Most of America's wealth in the hands of a few elite, who use their status to prop up their friends & family.

Baby Boomers hate millennials because they don't realize our financial future wasn't handed to us on a silver platter like theirs was. They inherited a post-WWII boom that had never and will never be rivaled.

Plus their education and housing debts were VASTLY better than ours.

This is a big issue why Millennials are projected to have less wealth than previous generations. It used to be that a high school education was sufficient to making a decent living. Nowadays, every decent job requires a degree and/or 3-5 years of experience, shutting out any Millennial that doesn't have connections.

Hit the needle on the head. This is what most people refer to when making a livable wage, livable wage is not just making enough to make ends meet.

But as i said it before people are literally the product of their generation. If those boomers were born during our time their behavior would have been similiar to ours and vice versa.
