I watched like up to the first hour and I liked the references, but it was not very Ghost in the Shell-like. It felt like it was trying way too hard to convince the viewer of its futuristic setting.

The live action one wasn't terrible, but I don't know why they decided to make another Robocop remake out of it instead of a proper GitS movie. The first half hour is actually pretty solid.

That movie was dead to me the moment they decided to try and adapt the original anime/manga and not Stand Alone Complex.

Overall I enjoyed it. To any long time fans of the series though, did it seem too actiony? I've only seen the SAC series and those had a mix of action and cyber warfare. Kinda which the latter was given more light.
ParanoidObsessive posted... That movie was dead to me the moment they decided to try and adapt the original anime/manga and not Stand Alone Complex. Wouldn't the SAC series be too big to squeeze into a movie setting. Probably cuz it was a shot for shot remake and the animation of the original was more groundbreaking than the weak CGI of the remake

It was pretty decent. Not as good as the source material but still worth a watch in my opinion

Its been maybe 12 years since I watched a little bit of Ghost in the Shell. I didn't get into it, never finished it. But, I got some idea of what it was about.
I saw the live action movie and I thought it was pretty good. So, I know a lot of fans who objected to it and it gives me the idea that the fans didn't like the adaptation, not that the movie was actually bad. --- "On my business card, I'm a corporate president.
