0:00-0:33 background hype, typical tuber intro, less loud which I appreciate. She's pretty, wish I could see the rest of her hair instead of her hat.

0:33-2:40 she uses a specific genetic lineage site called African Ancestry, cause, if you couldn't tell by the name, it specializes in African Ancestry. Specifically she said it can track her to a modern day tribe Huh. Also, tracks family history of both parents, supposedly other sites only give you percentages of your genes. They track mitochondrial dna for the mother's side.

2:41-4:00 She speculates about her past. Thinks her family is mostly from Ghana, people tell her she looks like that. Also speculates Nigerian.

4:01-4:59 Finally gonna open. Nervous, shakey, starting to tear up lol. BREATHE, READ.

5:00-8:39 Shocked at maternal ancestry being European. Dumbfounded for like 15 seconds. Nonafrican lineage, haplo group H, these genes from her mothers side are 500-2000 years old, so this is some old blood I guess. 100% sequence similarity. Yea she seems a bit pissy here, but that's acknowledged in her subtitled post notes at least, so she has some self awareness about her attitude.

8:40-10:40 Post reaction section. Talked with her mom, turns out her great great great grandmother was white and married a black man, and it's likely that g-g-great granny's lineage was all white prior to that point.

10:40-12:24 (end) Explains her disappointment, how she was always interested in her history but no one really told her about her euro history. I can kinda understand the disappointment, thinking one thing and getting something else. I don't care about lineage, but expecting milk and then drinking juice would freak me out a bit. In the end, she acknowledges that this is an interesting part of her family's history, and what makes her "her". That's a nice note to end on.

There. I watched your fucking video. Be grateful.

Actually, I wouldn't mind doing this kind of transcription for a living.

Oh, and her post in the comments section:

DISCLAIMER: I never once in this video said I wasnt proud of my maternal heritage. I never once said I do not accept my maternal heritage. I never once said there is anything wrong with my maternal heritage.
What I DID say was that I was INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED TO NOT LEARN THE SPECIFIC INFORMATION I I THOUGHT I WOULD LEARN. PERIOD.

She's alright with her white.

Only time I have seen a white person being upset finding out they were part black...or anything was that clip of that white supremacist on Oprah. Says a lot to be so upset by a small percent, of what you should honestly expect.

Didn't watch the video but I am guessing she is the type that based her entire life and identity around African pride

Yup after checking her Youtube and Instagram she has no identity outside of being black. Shes built her entire life around one aspect and is now causing a ruckus since that insignificant part of her has been proven false.

That's 100% false.

As part of her moms side, they couldn't trace it back ti africa. Its the fact they couldn't give her anything on her moms side except, "sorry but your ancestry is all white over here." Her african descent seems to come more from her dads side.

i'd be shocked and angry too, considering the majority of white slave owners raped female slaves which lead to their children being biracial and thus out-cast.
to add, this is also why a lot of black people (maybe its a southern black thing) say that their ancestors were part native American and that's why they look lighter or have a different structure than full blood Africans. it's much easier to say "yeah my grandma half Cherokee" than "yeah my great great grandmother was brutally raped in slavery by her master"

there's a great zora neal hurston essay called "how it feels to be colored" which i think has some good and bad points around this idea.

She needed a test for that? I can tell just by looking at her.

nah

Yeah. Her skin is kind of light.

Wtf she's not even in Redbone territory lol

No, but one doesn't have to be to tell someone is not 100% African. But I don't know why you're still arguing this since she's not anyway.

I'm just saying there's no way you could gather that just by looking at her lmao

Which is very weird. Just because you can't doesn't mean others can.

Dude, I am only looking at the thumbnail and she's way lighter skinned than me. A caramel complexion (at the minimum) black person in the New World means they HAVE to have some kind of European lineage. *I shouldn't imply a 100% but the chances are still ridiculously high.

that's not how it works. I explained how it works earlier but a picture is worth a thousand words I guess

if the person on the top right corner was white (that's the maternal line in question), then that person would have a white maternal haplogroup, even if literally every other person in that picture was black

I gotchas, im just not communicating well lol thanks for the picture. That makes a lot of sense. But she was devastated not becausd she is europian but because ahe wanted to find what tribe she may have descended from. Instead they came back with, sorry we can only find your europian genes. I thinj it was nroe or leas her excitement of finding that out and not being able to is what sucked.

Example, like asking for a playstation for Christmas, but instead you get a xbox or a nintendo instead. Sure it's nice but not what she wanted.

yeah the unfortunate thing for her is that women can only trace their maternal line. men can trace both maternal and paternal lines (so the left most and right most lines, but not all the branches in between either way

so unless she has a male relative she can make take this test, there's no way to trace the thing she's interested in here. it's also entirely possible that her male lineage starts with a white dude too
