I have heard reports that:

- sometimes the vote number spikes tremendously in a 1 to 3 minutes span, when the poll had been very slow before

- huge difference in votes per poll. Some polls get 19 or 25 votes, some get 144 or so

- discrepancy between the replies to a poll (eg I like this user being replied a lot but a bunch of no answers)

- a highly suspect randomized nominee queue

- plus who spends all that time doing this sort of stuff!?!

I chose to opt out because of that. What are your thoughts?

Im not really sure. I can see why youd think that but idk, it seems like way too much effort to bother with.

Possibly to do with when the boards are active?

Very likely the site is more active on certain days.

Because a "no" response could technically be moderated for flaming.

The person who does this has been notorious for keep spreadsheets on people on CE, when they last logged in, how much karma he's taken from them from marking, etc.

He randomly makes topics like "wow what happened to X user?" or "X user hasn't logged on for X days or a month or two"

Not in the slightest. I got one of the lowest results because a bunch of unemployed people came and downvoted me in some sort of pathetic attempt at revenge.

Thanks - it's all good though. I came on Current Events along with the GameFAQs subreddit and ranted and raved about it for a week or so and felt much better.

This makes perfect sense. If you see someone like DarklinkJedi or Antifar you can bet people know them and have opinions on the matter. If you throw out someone like me (last time I got 6 votes total IIRC) it makes sense there's way less. Less people recognize them/care.
