- A lot of people are unhappy with the Brexit deal
- It seems unlikely to get through the Commons vote anyway
- If it doesn't, we could easily have a no deal Brexit, which could make the economy shrink by 8%, which would cause the worst recession since the 1940s
- A lot of people are unhappy with the Prime Minister, and tonight they're doing a vote to possibly remove her from power
- If the Prime Minister it outed, it clearly isn't a good time for her to be replaced, because we're at crunch time with the Brexit process
- There's the uncertainty of who would replace her, if she is gone
- Also, if and when Brexit happens in some form, about 48% of the population (the people who voted to remain in the EU) are going to be really unhappy

I can't believe how all this has happened. It really is crazy. I mean, the last month or so has been very exciting and scary, but this is even worse.

What do you all think of it?

I'm a remainer but at this point I don't know if cancelling brexit would even be wise anymore. Basically I think the entire thing has done nothing but weaken us magnificently.

I'm a remainer too, but I think Brexit should go ahead in SOME form, because it would clearly serve democracy.

Brexit has really messed up this country, though. This must be what the American Civil War was like, splitting things down the middle.

I expect Brexit will happen, however, probably with no deal. That's life, I guess.

As much as I despite tories and everything they stand for, at least they can rally a strong party and make decisions. Over on the other side of the fence we've got a bunch of wet blankets with no actual plan.

Similar to what appears to be happening in the US, in fact.

Britain is having some of the biggest events of the last 50 years happening, but Americans don't seem to care much. If someone was murdered in a small town in Montana, Americans would want to tell us about it for a few days.

Most Americans grow up thinking their country and it's people are the best. They have everything they need in their own country. They have all the nature you can dream of, all the big cities, all the small towns.

The only reason they have to leave their own country, is to experience other cultures. But because they have no real culture of their own ( that's not even meant as a dis, a country that is 300 years old can't have much of a culture yet), they are not interested in other cultures for the most part.

that ultimately leads to a bunch of people that are pretty ignorant to the rest of the world.

@ALIEN_WORK2HOP

You honestly think after several hundred years, a country can't have a culture? Seriously?

Oh, and America is roughly 250 years old, not 300 years old. If it was, it would've been founded in about 1718.

Further, America has an amazing food culture. Britain does not have a food culture at all.

I guaran-fucking-tee you that when a british person on the internet says that Americans are uncultured and crass, he's the kind of bloke that thinks culture is sitting by the poolside at a resort in Magaluf drinking carling.

I am quite annoyed at 52% of the U.K. who voted brexit. It is a self inflicted wound.

I dont care about the excuses I hear, a lot of the brexit voters voted brexit out of racism and nostalgia for a time gone by. Even worse, some people fantasize that after Brexit the U.K. will turn to the British commonwealth and reignite the British empire (lmao!!!), some call it brexit 2.0

The biggest annoyance I have is that the U.K. unleashed nigel Farage into the world. He is not content with wrecking the U.K., he has been coming and stirring things in my country (us) and others too.

So yeah... with all that annoyance I am watching brexit with a big bucket of popcorn in my hands watching the U.K. shoot itself in the feet, its well deserved

Yeah I cant wrap my mind around the mentality of some brits.

I have heard them say just that (the EU will be doomed without the mighty brits, the brits dont need the EU), and also things like we could have won world war 2 by ourselves or Spain, Italy, Portugal and France are 3rd world compared to us.

But my personal favorite is when they complain about people in the U.K. not learning the language and customs, and thats why theyre expats and never going back to the U.K... and they say so from some bar in Spain, a bar made for British expats, full of other British expats, drinking a pint while watching the Liverpool soccer game

The EU confirming that the UK can technically still cancel brexit basically guarantees that it won't happen now. Nobody wants a hard exit, but the assumption that they had to leave no matter what was the only thing getting any support behind a deal. Now there's basically no political Capital left to negotiate with the EU, and no justification for taking a hard exit, basically leaving remain as the only effective solution.
