There's a Casual mode that disables permadeath. Every FE game since Awakening has had it

With a series that has multiple weapons, spells, and characters who can transform into animals and dragons, it's a bit redic

Pretty much. The newer games have parts of them that are cool but since Awakening Ive only played each once. Meanwhile Ive played 3-10 multiple times over.

They have Ephraim and Hector and they decide to use neither in favor of MOAR SWORDZ. I have no idea why.

It's not just the fact that they mostly all feel so similar, it's also that there are seven of them when other franchises are underrepresented or not represented at all...including Fire Emblem's superior sister franchise Advance Wars.

It also has three stages and assist trophies, and dozens of spirits. It's way too much, and they're all boringly similar except for Robin.

If permadeath is the only thing that bothers you play the 3DS ones. They are by far the worst in the series in every way, but you can turn permadeath off.

Yeah not adding Hector, or the lack of FE7 rep in general, is pretty criminal. And honestly, Roy is a pretty poor rep as well, and so is Marth, but he's sorta grandfathered in.

Characters that most actual Fire Emblem fans care about: Ike, Lyn, Hector, and Ephraim more than most of the other characters. I guess Chrom and Lucina to a lesser extent, and Alm/Celica for people who played Echoes. This is not considering the non-main characters, because I think Anna makes a good case for herself. And the older FE favorites will be lost on global audiences, so I dunno if I would consider them, though there are guys like Sigurd, who is more iconically on a horse, speaking of which we don't have cavaliers.

Out of all those characters, 3 of them are in Smash. Then we got freaking Robin, who at least reps tomes finally, Corrin that literally nobody likes, Marth that nobody gives a shit about outside Melee fans, and Roy who was in a worse game than Hector's no matter how much FE6 fans will protest.

I've said it before, but wipe out all the FE reps in the next game, put in Ike, Hector, Ephraim, keep Robin as tome rep I guess, even though Robin is a boring nobody.

Tbf it's one of the only Nintendo franchises that has multiple games and introduces a new cast with each entry
It's why Pokemon has many reps in smash for similar reasons
