Dog owners who refer to their dogs as shit like "fur babies" and don't instill their alpha imprint on their dog, generally have pets who aren't well trained and won't fucking listen, but "dawww iddn't he pweshus". The alpha imprint thing is tricky. You dont have to be a dick to your dog because you control the resources: he eats when you want to, if you want to, and you feed him. It is very tricky and you're right, it's not about being a dick to them, but it sorta is because it's predicated on making sure the dog doesn't see itself as being on the same level as you, via things like not letting it sleep in your bed as you're imprinting on it. I definitely don't think it's wrong to cuddle with your dog or show them love at all, but it's like how you shouldn't give a dog human food because that's the start of the begging routine.... a dog needs structure to flourish. If the structural support of the relationship dynamic isn't established with some attention, you get those people with dogs who just don't listen to you when guests are around. I mean... you don't even need to be heavy handed to achieve the goal, but the people with "fur babies", the obnoxious ones who don't even do that and do the wrong thing from the get go of spoiling the dog, like it's a baby.. they disgust me. Like people who have crying babies on an airplane or in a movie theater and there's no real timely attempts to calm the child or take the infant out of the theater so that other don't have to hear it cry over the movie... or like the parents of young children that let their children act out in public and then get mad when another person has a negative reaction to the most innocent jewel this earth has ever seen.... I don't have kids, but I sure as shit know animals. Incapable dog owners annoy me.
