Reverend Don LaCuesta has sparked outrage after he suggested at a FUNERAL for 18 y/o Maison Hullibarger who committed suicide in Michigan that may not go to HEAVEN and then called him a SINNER in front of HUNDREDS!!

Maison took his own life on December 4th in Temperance as his grieving family said the priest would not stop bringing up his cause of death during the funeral on December 8th.

Jeff Hullibarger said "It was his time to tell everybody hat he thought of suicide and we couldn't believe what he was saying. He was up there condemning our son. He wondered if he had repented enough to make it ot heaven. He said suicide upward of 6 times. There were actually a couple of younger boys who were Maison's age who left the church sobbing"

They said they spoke with him before the funeral on what they wanted to be said at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and he was jotting down notes during the conversation.

Maison's dad even went up to him to whisper to him to stop mentioning the suicide but he IGNORED him and now they want LaCuesta to be REMOVED.

Jeff demands action and said the whacko priest needs to be held accountable

After the foul mouth priest made his remarks, they told him NOT to come to the cemetary as Linda Hullibarger said "He basically called our son a sinner. It was what he wanted. He said nothing about what we asked him to say"

The Archdiocese of Detroit said that LaCuesta will no longer be able to give sermons at funerals and has agreed to pursue the assistance he needs to become a more "effective" minister.

A gofundme page to cover the funeral was created and has surpassed it's goal of 10,000 bringing in 17,280 from more than 300 people

That's only what Catholics believe. Other denominations don't necessarily believe that suicide=automatic damnation.

It's not automatic in Catholicism either. It's up to God. It simply breaks the commandment "Thou Shall Not Kill", and because you do it right before death, you have no chance to repent. But ultimately it's up to God. So this priest, if he was a Catholic Priest or some denomination that recognizes it as a sin, is not being inaccurate when saying that the boy is a sinner and he may not go to heaven.

That's the thing about made up stories though. They can't change based on circumstances.

Ehh, not sure what to say here. A lot of readers on other boards already criticized the priest for being cruel and his superiors issued an apology. The priest wasn't really wrong because suicide as sin has been a long-standing doctrine for Catholics, but there's a saying that funerals aren't for the dead, they're for the living. Mourners are there for hope and closure.
