People attribute a view on www.sanders.senate.gov to Bernie Sanders. That sounds pretty reasonable.

You seemed to have a different opinion on this sort of thing when we discussed those newsletters Ron Paul "wrote"

As do you. But it's pretty hard to distance yourself from your own campaign page.

Well at least you guys aren't trying to damage control for Venezuela or socialism and are instead trying to distance Bernie from all that nonsense.

It shows that yall have hearts in the right place at the least.

You keep insisting that people are shilling for Venezuela and I don't see that either. Can you post proof that people want the US to be just like Venezuela when they're asking for more affordable healthcare and education?

https://www.sanders.senate.gov/newsroom/must-read/close-the-gaps-disparities-that-threaten-america

These days, the American dream is more apt to be realized in South America, in places such as Ecuador, Venezuela and Argentina, where incomes are actually more equal today than they are in the land of Horatio Alger. Who's the banana republic now?

lmao

Cool beans. Who's it by? The author is written write there, right above the text you quoted. Who was it that wrote that piece?

People attribute a view on www.sanders.senate.gov to Bernie Sanders. That sounds pretty reasonable.

The salience of that article was about race, job, investment, and wealth inequality. Don't you think the 7 preceding paragraphs carry more significance to the final 1? Venezuela failing means that there's no race or wealth gap in America?

And Sanders still didn't even write it anyways, so don't know why people are linking literal proof that he didn't and are trying to use it as a gotcha.

I will say that I was incorrect to say that it was a quote Bernie made. It was a view that was endorsed on his campaign page. I had seen it linked to his page a couple years ago, and didn't question the assertion that he said it himself.

Yes - that was much worse.

And maybe I'm biased but I always interpreted it to mean something like "The US is so messed up with wealth inequality and favoritism towards the wealthy that you're more likely to achieve upwards mobility in a backwards dump in SA"

Ron has disavowed those quotes many times.

Bernie on the other hand has dodged the issue.

LEN KRAUZE, UNIVISION: I am sure that you know about this topic: various leftist governments, especially the populists, are in serious trouble in Latin America. The socialist model in Venezuela has the country near collapse. Argentina, also Brazil, how do you explain that failure?

BERNIE SANDERS, DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE: You are asking me questions

LEN KRAUZE, UNIVISION: I am sure youre interested in that.

BERNIE SANDERS, DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE: I am very interested, but right now Im running for President of the United States.

LEN KRAUZE, UNIVISION: So you dont have an opinion about the crisis in Venezuela?

BERNIE SANDERS, DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE: Of course I have an opinion, but as I said, Im focused on my campaign.

It should be easy to throw a socialist shithole under the bus. But he just can't do it.

Your implication is that he wrote it

given how often y'all falsely attribute it to him

seems as tho the honest thing to do is just set the record straight on that

Ron has condemned those quotes many times.

Yet he published them, attached his name to them, and made money off them for many years?

I'm sure we can conflate Marxism with Juche totalitarianism because they're basically the same thing, as long as some country claims to espouse certain principles.

Because if a country calls itself democratic and instead becomes totalitarian, that means democracy and totalitarianism are basically the same thing, right? Or so Proudclad's argument would entail.

Where's Mal_Fet at, he'd love the direction this topic is going.

Love how people hijack tragedies like this for their own political purposes. Never mind thousands are dying per day. Much more important to use it as ammunition to attack someone else.

Yep

Yep Germany and Canada both come to mind

Also when the US did have strong unions things seemed to be going just fine.

Unless he means "unions help organize and tend to get people voting left and people voting left will destroy the country"

Sweden is ok

Denmark is a better example since they have more state sector control of their economy than Venezuela.
