I work with a bunch of middle-aged, verging on retirement sadasses.

The work Christmas lunch is at the local deli that everyone already goes to (literally half the office goes there every day). They're not even bothering to put on a christmas menu, so it will be a bagel for lunch.

They've decided the work Christmas party should be in January because it's quieter and less hectic. The original idea to actually have a party was shot down, so I believe the plan is just to go to the local pub instead. The one across the road.

But this part, this really takes the cake: apparently it is tradition that we all pitch in to buy the directors a hamper. The fuck kind of company is it where you buy your BOSS a christmas present?

I don't know man. Software development might be the more stable employment opportunity but I miss working in Advertising where people knew how to fucking party.

Right?? I've never had this at any company I've worked at. I get that it's "tradition" but I think that's fucking insane for people on a regular salary to be buying gifts for the owners of the company who already have major wealth.

Hamper is a basket of various gifts (like wine, cheese, bottle opener etc)
