You're just giving yourself more limitations using a laptop for this since a lot of it relies heavily on CPU and the RAM. You'd barely be scraping by w/ 8gb of RAM and an i7, even 16gb is on the lower side when you start using multiple VSTs, a DAW, and possibly interface. It's definitely possible on a laptop but not ideal, especially if you aren't using a monitor as well since 15-20" screens are way too small to use a DAW effectively --- There sure are a lot of different mes just like you have a lot of different yous! If you're gonna do music work you'll need a pro sound card. Laptops are basically out as far as I know.
