Havent owned a console in a quite a while.

I dont like mario or zelda games. But do like smash bros (the main reason I am wanting one) and fire emblem and similar strategy games. Is that enough to get one or will i end up with buyers remorse

Should I just skip on it during these upcoming sales? What else is coming out on it which could spike my interest

The portability is pretty novel.

What up TC yeah the switch is a good system for strategy games with Civ 6, Into the Breach, Valkyria Chronicles, Banner Saga, Disgaea, and Mario XCOM(Kingdom Battle) off the top of my head. Portable systems and turn based strategy games are a great combo, especially when you can also put the games on your TV and play Civ with joycons while lounging on the couch.

And you can also play Fire Emblem Warriors since you'll know the characters.

I thought about it but 300 is steep and I dont have a lot of free time

There's some great stuff. SMO, BotW, Tropical Freeze, Captain Toad, and other things. The problem is, if you own or owned a Wii U, you will have already played SOME of the best games. I must admit, there could be a few more really good games for the console. It's only its second year, of course.

I'm still really looking forward to Pikmin 4, and to a lesser extent, Team Sonic Racing, the new Yoshi, and the new Mortal Kombat.

The Switch is a very good indie machine. You've got point and click adventure games like Agatha Knife, you've got lower-key racing games, Kemco RPGs, platformers, rhythm games etc. - in that regard, it's a much more diverse market place than your regular Nintendo fare.

As far as CRPGs or tactical RPGs go, you've got the Banner Saga games and Mercenaries Saga - that's 6 stretegy games right there. There's also a cheapo parody game named Ambition of the Slimes, it's got low production quality but it's a hoot.

Get it now for Smash or wait until FE 3 Houses and get both games? You could get Valkyria Chronicles 1 and 4 to wait on FE if you decide to get it now

thing is, i havent seriously owned a console since the PS2/GCN. I owned a 360 and ps3 but they just collected dust and i ended up getting rid of them within a few months.
