Ok, I guess I wasn't clear enough with my question: please explain what is bad about it. Saying it's internet explorer doesn't clear that up, it just switches the question to, 'Why is IE bad?"

I use firefox at home, but I'm curious why people hate Edge/IE so much.

i use chrome. seems to be my go to browser.

i also use edge. i use it cause its on my gaming laptop and i want to check it out. been using it for month. its windows 10 and all. it recently updated and compares itself to chrome and some other browser in speed. dont really care.

i get firefox has mods and its a browser you can customize to your needs.

if you want something like chrome just go chromium - it's more optimized in my experience. can't comment on privacy.

otherwise just get firefox because it won't slow down if you don't add too many add-ons. Problems usually start when you get a bunch of conflicting add-ons and stuff - kinda like when a game breaks from adding too many mods.

Firefox and Vivaldi are both very solid choices. Make sure you get HTTPS Everywhere and Privacy Badger (or uBlock Origin).

Waterfox is developed by a single individual and it's become rather unnecessary since the release of Firefox Quantum. It's not bad, but you're gonna be delayed, even slightly, receiving security patches and it doesn't have all the same functionality as Firefox post release 57.

uBlock ORIGIN is what you want. uBlock is the sold-out corporate version. ABP is also a corporate ad-blocker - it allows whitelisted ads to display.

Steam is Steam, it works well, they released a friends list update recently that is actually pretty decent (but they broke video playback on the Store, at least for me >_>).

Quantum is just the "codename" of version 57. If you're on version 57 or higher then you're automatically good to go.

What I use:

Snes9x: Had to use it for Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War Project Naga translation, and I've never looked back.
DeSmuME: I'm actually not as familiar with DS emulation, but from my experience you can't really go wrong with it.
Visual Boy Advance: Like DeSmuME, you can't really go wrong with it. Easy to use, runs everything you need it to.
