After seeing Into the Spiderverse today, I'm convinced that action-wise, we'll never see anything like that live. It requires absurd agility at insane speeds, and would be incredibly dangerous to film. Animation just has so much more room for creativity.

It depends
There's a lot of stuff that I've never seen look right in animation. Some live action fight scenes really get the sense of weight right where punches look heavy. Shit looks like it actually hurts I've never seen this done correctly in animation.

Also, there's a ton of stuff that looks better in animated form for the same reason. Flips and super jumps usually look stupid in live action but look great in animated form.

I don't think one is better than the other.

They're too different as to find something in common.

Live action has the upper hand because we can actually relate to something that is supposed to portray real life. Animated action scenes usually depict implausible/over the top activities meant to awe rather than involve the spectator.

I think the closest comparison we can make is if we pick a live action scene that's meant to depict supernatural prowess (crouching tiger hidden dragon for example) and compare it to a very serious animated fight scene (can't recall any atm).

Even then, it will be oil & water.
