I have zero interest in concerts, theatre, opera, sport events and the sort.

Why spend more money on some artist that you can just listen to on your headphones? I think music events/night clubs should just be 0-5 euros for entrance. I would go there for the sole reason of being social with friends, and the music is an extra.

Theatre, sport events and opera is just a very shortlasting memory for a large amount money. You know you will forget all about it soon after, and you know that those videos you took of it, will just gather dust or remain in your drive, never to be seen again.

What's the point, really?

Somewhat agree, but than again I'm someone who thinks I should be paid to watch sports. Not the other way around.

Because some musicians sound a lot better live plus you're surrounded by people who have similar interests as you so its a good opportunity to make new friends and hook up with cool chicks. Plus there's a slim chance that you'll actually get to meet an artist or and that you're a fan of. You can't do any of that listening to music on your headphones at home

I'm guessing you either have never actually been to a concert or you aren't a big fan of any particular bands.

I spent ~$500 to meet my favorite band and stand on stage while they played and it was honestly one of the best days of my life.

going to a live concert or sports event is not about just watching the game or listening to the music, it's about experiencing the actual performance, having that connection with the artist/team/whatever, sharing it all with other fans, etc.

Live music is infinitely better than listening to recordings...especially of a professional group.

Live professional symphony or opera? Seeing it happen in person is zero replacement for listening through headphones...

concerts are awesome man, they really shouldn't be lumped in with theatre or opera. sports i don't give a shit about. the only stageplay i'd ever consider going to see is Book of Mormon. i actually really want to see that.

If you ever get the chance you should also see Wicked. Its the best broadway show I've ever seen

I remember many of the concerts and festivals I've been too very fondly

I totally get not wanting to see theatre/opera in person because I have absolutely no interest in them. I wouldn't even go if I was offered free front row seats.

Sports is a bit different. I used to love watching NFL and only lived an hour from my favorite team's stadium, but going there seemed worse than just staying home. You're still watching it live on TV and you get a much better view of the game than if you paid for affordable tickets. Then there's the cold weather, overcrowding/noise, overpriced food/beer, etc.

Concerts are different though. Once a band is done, they're done. It's not like a sports team that will always be around or a play that can be reenacted infinitely.

BUT if you don't have an interest in any of those things, that's fine. I hope there are things you do enjoy aside from video games and tv though, it's good to have some breadth

I don't play video games anymore, ironically. The only thing I do with friends is go to bars, for the sake of being social.

Yeah this, pretty much. When you go see a concert, or a stage musical or whatever, you're getting to see a unique performance of it only for you on that room on that night - and even if it was recorded you can't recapture the atmosphere and "energy in the room" of being there. Magical.
