Particularly in America and western countries but the surveys say they are overwhelmingly Christian. Are they labelled as Christian just because of their parents?

depends where you live, but nah theres definitely more christians overall. I think there's just more atheists than any polls actually let on

I think there are a lot less actually religious people than we think. It seems like "god" to many people is a placeholder for what they have no control over, whether good or bad. Like luck.

Bumble has shown me that the vast majority of women near me are Christian, and no I don't live out in the country.

Most people definitely aren't. Like stated in topic, it's easier to go through life believing in God and the afterlife rather than being an angstheist.

There are a lot of people who think deistically who don't identify as Deist or even know what Deism is, but if they did that would make the results of those polls look a bit different

Then again, if they'd think hard enough, they probably wouldn't even be Christian/religious at all.

Anyway, it does seem plausible that a majority of Americans identify as Christian, regardless of whether or not they actually actively contemplate on or do something with it. That's also why literally every president acts like they're Christian and the pledge still has that 'one nation, under God' bit.

And most people in western countries engage in pre-marital sex which is against Christianity. So even if they identify as Christians, they don't seem to be following the Bible.

For years I went around identifying as a Christian while talking smack about the Bible. It's kind of amusing in hindsight.

most countries with atheist people live well, compared to developing countries who ironically have big culture of religion
