Why is fanservice so often perceived as a negative thing?

I mean, if you have a product, be it a movie, show, comic, book, hell any form of media, you need fans to survive. And you grow and retain fans by servicing them.

Why is that a bad thing?

I know, right? It's like people who complain about the Patriot act. What the hell is wrong with patriotism?

You shouldn't have to act patriotism, it should be authentic

Sometimes they can overboard with it. A wink or a nod here or there is great. But it is possible to overdo it. I remember a period of time when it felt like half the marvel comics I read kept throwing in wolverine. He had his own title and was part of the blue(?) team in X-men. Fine. But then he shows up as a guest star in the gold team title. Then I see him in punisher. He shows up in ghost rider. Takes a trip to england to have an appearance in excalibur. While it made some fans excited, it really turned off other people like me.

The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes. That's fact.
Everything else, is theory.
