You're out shopping with your best friend and his girlfriend one day until she says "Ooh! Let's gets some shoes! I need some new shoes!" excitedly when suddenly without warning a large dragon swoops down and starts wrecking your hometown. Starting fires and smashing buildings.

Then before you could spell your name it grabs your best friend's girlfriend and flies away.

A wizened old lame man with a big bushy beard sees it all occur, hobbles up using his staff for balance and says "I know where that dragon has taken that poor lass. To the highest tower of Fort Despair at the peak of the Misery Mountains."

Your best friend looks at you expectantly

If there's a dragon around there should be some mage, magical girl, or someone else who can seal it or kill it. I'll go ask them to deal with the dragon, unless it's using the logic of Gate where mortars and missiles can damage them, then just calling the national guard or army would do.
