Metal Max only got ONE English release, Metal Saga...

These games ARE Elder Scrolls... you can beat the game immediately, making speedruns of Metal Saga humorously unimpressive.

Tons of characters and factions and quest chains... almost all optional

I'd say the series influenced the beginning of Fallout, but since it was never released here until the PS2 it's unlikely, but they are rather similar in theme and feel.

i remember renting metal saga once when i was young. was fun to get the credits as soon as the game started lol, hadn't ever witnessed anything like that before. don't really remember anything about it other than that unfortunately.

Yeah I had a lot of fun with the ps2 game. It probably didn't take off because it looks pretty generic at first glance.

The better games (MMR, 3, 2R, and 4) are Japan only

The later Metal Max games (Metal Saga and beyond) are hard to get into by most audiences. The later games are quite difficult if you don't know what you are doing especially 2 Reloaded which has parts that are a serious pain in the ass even to seasoned players. Xeno is too easy for Metal Max fans and very lacking.

I've heard it isn't great, but still intend to get it. It is the only one available to PAL gamers.
