Pokemon Pearl I bought at released, forgot what happened to it, like 6 years later I bought it again at a pawn shop for 20 bucks.

Pokemon black. I lost my copy, so i purchased it again.
RE4 got the GCN, and PC versions.
ToS, have the GCN, PS3, and also I might have gotten the PC one
Zelda MM and OoT both with N64 and 3ds.

Most of the time its just to have on newer hardware

many of the great SNES games I've had to reacquire after having sold them all to afford buying an N64 (terrible idea little did I know). there was also a time long ago where you could trade SNES games for something like $5, so you could play almost every SNES game 1 at a time, for $5 a swap. I've owned a ton of them temporarily while doing this.

probably a bunch of things on steam or gog that I own the original and newer versions of, but that's not very interesting

I'm sure everyone has plenty of games they rebought as a port/remaster/whatever.

There's one game I bought for the same system three times; Persona 4: Dancing All Night.

- first copy was lost when my Vita was stolen
- second copy was lost by a relative
- bought third copy; eventually found second copy months later

..Would have been a lot easier if I had just gotten a digital copy, but I I wanted the Collector's Edition.

Lunar: Silver Star (technically each iteration of the game is a remake with new graphics/mechanics, but the underlying game is still the same one, so it counts)
The Legend of Zelda (LoZ, AoL, LttP, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, TP) - sometimes I bought these because I wanted portable versions, other times they had some new stuff, other times they were freebies for buying other stuff.
Skyrim (bought the normal version, the VR version, plus the GotY edition)

I have the original NES version of Mega Man 3 and the 3DS port... plus it's in multiple Mega Man collections that I've bought, including the Legacy version on the 3DS.

Sonic 1 -- Genesis + 3DS port. I guess also some collections.

LttP, SNES and GBA port. Obvious reasons.

And just a ton of games from Nintendo systems. Plus a bunch of ps2 ports to other systems, like GOW and so on.

I have a few Final Fantasy games on multiple platforms... I own FF7 on PC, PS1 (digital, so PS3 and Vita), and my phone. FFX/X-2 on PC and PS4. KoF13 on PC and Xbox 360 (Xbox One).

(mainly bought the collection on sale for 3/4 because gta 3 is my favorite)

jak trilogy on ps2/3 (love jak 1)

red faction 1 on ps2/3/4

pokemon yellow on cartridge and eshop

kessen 1 on ps2/3

gladius on gamecube/ps2 (i had lost my 1st copy for awhile)

KoToR 1/2 on disc and steam. thought i had lost during a move, found it after i bought on steam sale.... it was bundled with other games though like jedi academy (love that game)

i guess star wars bounty hunter on gamecube/ps4, but that came free with my ps4 star wars bundle

Oblivion (lost all the DLC modules and bought it on sale on GOG because it came with all of them)
Fallout: New Vegas (was cheaper to buy the ultimate edition than to buy all the DLC, it was in the bargain bin both times)
Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2 (the CDs don't work on Windows 7, so bought it on GOG)
Bioshock (grabbed the remaster on GOG on sale, just beat it yesterday)
Master of Orion 2 (technically didn't buy it the first time, borrowed it from a friend and never returned it, bought it on GOG because I don't need to terminate Windows Explorer to get that version to work right)
Painkiller (on GOG, because the CDs don't work properly on multicore processors)

Metal Slug Anthology, because the Metal Slug series is one of my most favorite arcade game series ever.

007 James Bond: Nightfire, because I got the GBA version as a gift.

Street Fighter II, because it came with the Anniversary Collection disc that I had for PS2 along with Street Fighter: III 3rd Strike and the animated movie.

I would consider buying Resident Evil 4 again because the Wiimote controls look awesome and maybe they make the game less stressful. IDK, but I cant play The Mercenaries mode because I get too anxious lol.

Off the top of my head counting games bought for me by my mom when I was a kid. Mario Bros 1-3 zelda oot and both oracle games. Star fox 64. Multiple final fantasy games. Resident evil 4. Multiple metal gear solid games. Technically castlevania sotn but I got it on the ps4 because it came with condo of blood which I hadnt played yet.

Sure im missing some. Most of the older games on that list though i originally didnt pay for and where likely a christmas or birthday gift from my mom.

Ah morrowind oblivion and Skyrim I forgot. Skyrim only though because I had the digital version and buying the disc that came with all dlc was cheaper than buying all the dlc.

Which I'm happy with. The convience of a digital copy but the peace of mind knowing I got a physical copy should something happen to my Xbox 360 or if I even just want to delete the digital to make more room for something else.

I don't just buy flat remasters or the same game that I already own per say. They need to offer me more things that I don't already own. For example I sold The Witcher 3 in order to buy the Game of the Year version. Also:

Kingdom Hearts: The story so far collection - I own Kingdom Hearts 1, 2 and Birth by Sleep on other platforms however with this collection they are the final mix versions of the games so have something new for me and I get to play Birth by Sleep on the TV as apposed to handheld.

I have the original CD version of Deus Ex and the GOTY Steam version, AND Deus Ex: Revision (which is the remastered version of the original)

I had Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, X-Wing, TIE Fighter, and Dark Forces for DOS then bought them again for Windows from Steam.

I had the CD version of Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb, Quake II, and HeXen II, and then I bought the Steam version.

I have Goat Simulator and The Deer God for Windows and Android.

I have Final Fantasy Adventure for the Game Boy and the remake, Adventures of Mana, for Android.

I bought Animal Crossing: New Leaf on cartridge for my 3DS, then a short time later bought the digital version because it was so much easier than having to deal with the cart.

I have the board game Ticket To Ride, and the Windows version.

I actually bought Influent like 6 times from Humble Bundle (for $1 each) because each time you redeemed a key you'd get another language pack for free and it was cheaper than buying them as DLC ($5).
