Still going strong. I haven't gained superpowers yet, but I feel a lot more rested and have a lot less tension in my face. I feel a lot less stress over all. Back when I was lifting and drinking I didn't see a whole lot of improvement. But now that I quit it feels like I have a whole new level of drive and energy while I exercise.

I really believe that the media and government portray alcohol as this great beverage and social lubricate to keep us in the dark. It isn't about in moderation. It's about just not drinking it entirely. People are afraid to face others so they get drunk to make it easier or to escape from their problems.

It's a poison and should be labeled as such.

They have warnings. To be fair they need to also label foods containing sugar as poison.

Congrats on 2 mo ths sober, I'm currently uhh...

What's that? An app?

Oh, yeah sugar is as well. I rarely eat anything sugary. Usually only if I get it as a gift or whatever. I guess there are people out there who get addicted to it? Like soda. Ugh, I don't know how anyone can enjoy a soda.

I used to ride my bike for a hour every day when I was drinking at my heaviest and I kept wondering why I wasnt losing much weight. Then I learned how fattening liquor is. So much sugar. I lost about 20-25 pounds by just cutting out liquor. My three year sober date is in September.

I have to respectfully disagree as I've never had a problem with drinking in moderation. I drink for the taste not to get wild and have a crazy good time. But good on you guys for staying sober. Not as serious as alcohol, but tomorrow I will have completed my 30 day no soda challenge and I got to say that I feel great. I may limit myself to 1 soda a week instead of the 2 or 3 I was having a day. I don't feel all bogged down full of sugar and syrup.

I've thought of drinking sometimes but my body seems to even react to the thought. Like I get a headache and my right side of my body gets sharp pains. I wonder if I'll just stop.

It was similar to smoking. I was smoking maybe a pack every few days 3 years ago. Went cold turkey and never looked back. Once I find no use for something I just tend to cut it out without much trouble. I think it was mostly the side effects that caused me to stop. Plus I was heavily into running and that was really holding me back at the time.

Alcohol turns off fear. This is the reason why servicemen and veterans from the military have such high rates of alcoholism.

Or they drink so much because they have a whole nation of people who would rather kneel than recognize the sacrifice they did for us.

Tell that to my mother, my uncles, my cousins, my friends who are all veterans who agreed with the athletes kneeling.

I mean you can care about kneeling all you want. Veterans have bigger issues than people kneeling for equality.

and i still think what you're saying is stupid

If I bothered counting I'm almost 6 months on the wagon. But the more I pay attention to how long I've gone without the more likely it becomes that I'll drink again, so I don't much think about it.

9 months or so sober for me. From both weed and alcohol, it's really good for me that I've stopped smoking weed. Usually when I stop its for good, I start getting better and right around the 2 year sober mark some asshole will offer me some and I'll go "sure" like an idiot and it leads me right down the rabbit hole again... This times gonna be different, fool me thrice I don't think so!

Alcohol is extremely difficult to quit. It's everywhere, and if you watch television, the advertisements are there. I've overcome some hard addictions, and alcohol has seriously been the most difficult for me. Keep it up man. Do not think that you can have a single drink a few months later. You can't. It's really easy to feel like you can have "just one" and be okay. You won't be okay. I don't know the extent of your addiction, but it's extremely difficult to go back to casual drinking after a serious addiction. If you want someone to talk to about addiction, feel free to PM me, I've gone through some intense recovery the last two years and I have some good advice to throw out there

Actually alcohol destroys your brain significantly more than almost any other drug. Studies have proven this
