The cable is plugged into the dock to charge the Pro controller. So there's a convenient cable to charge the system with when using handheld mode because the monitor's in use. I drained the battery playing Voez, which is great aside from unlocking all songs instantly but making you jump to Extra difficulty almost immediately to see the story.

I suppose so. Micro is kind of bad. You can't use a PS4 controller wired.

I meant you can't count on the connection for controller output. Plugging it into the wall is a good way of charging it while using it compared to plugging it into the PS4, I assume.

I play with DS4 wired to my PC all the time and never have any issues. What are you referring to, exactly?

I guess I almost exclusively used the dock, and I didn't have the Pro controller at first so I didn't make the connection.

I've used a random USB-C cable on my Nintendo Switch pretty often to no ill effects but I'm now concerned if that's actually a thing.

There's a third party dock that can hurt the Switch. That was the main thing.
