I finally got serious about losing weight on April 1 of 2018.
From April 1 to July 25th, I lost about 25 pounds... Then a coworker talked me into joining a crossfit gym. They taught me about how to eat properly so that I'm not craving food even when I'm doing a calorie deficit every day. Since July 25th, I've lost 151 pounds. I feel amazing compared to last year at this time. I'm now going to the gym 4 days per week and I'm doing a lot better in the gym, too. It's still really hard every time, but absolutely worth it. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I know that shit is hard as hell, good on you.
Just be sure to listen to your body while doing crossfit and don't be afraid to back off a little when you get in great shape. I got swole as hell doing crossfit but then I dislocated my pelvis doing jump squats and that's been a downer. --- All generalizations are false, including this one. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Also, when I went to Charleston for work a couple weeks ago, I decided not to rent a car and just walk everywhere to see what I could do.
I ended up walking about 54 miles that week with no issues. This time last year, I couldn't walk for more than 30 seconds or so without back pain. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Holy shit! Well done, whats your ultimate target weight? I'm not really sure what my ideal weight is. I may settle around the high 180s or low 190s, but I'll have to see when I get there. I was super active as a kid. I was always outside doing something. Biking, rollerblading, skateboarding, running, swimming, etc. The summer before 9th grade, I got viral meningitis. That caused me to have infected fluid in my brain and spine as well as brain tumors. I also started having seizures randomly. I'd just black out randomly, probably 3 or 4 times per year and have a focal seizure. Because of that, it wasn't safe for me to do anything I liked to do outside any more. So, I just got used to sitting inside and doing nothing. I was still eating a lot, though. So I started gaining weight like crazy in high school. I never learned how to eat properly until last year, so I had been gaining a lot of weight my whole adult life. When I started at my current job, I bought a scale and realized I was 442 pounds. I went overboard with not eating enough food, but lost about 45 pounds in 6 or 7 months. Then I discovered food delivery services and got super lazy. All I would do was order from restaurants every day and then lay in bed and eat. I knew I was getting heavier, but I figured I could just go back to what I was doing before and lose weight again. I stopped paying attention to my weight for about a year, then stepped on the scale on April 1 of last year and it said 445 pounds. I was angry at myself. I was heavier than I had ever been and was probably on the way to an audition for My 600 Pound Life if I kept doing what I was doing. So I went back to cooking all of my food again and started losing weight slowly. Then the crossfit gym I joined taught me how to eat properly and I've been losing weight much more rapidly since then. The seizures got more and more mild over time and stopped happening after about 8 years or so. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

This is great to hear. I'm happy for you, man. Keep up the good work! I've been getting in shape recently and today I got to buy some new clothes because my regular clothes are swimming on me now. It felt great putting on a large shirt for the first time in maybe 10 years. You must've had to buy new clothes a few times since last year, huh? Those victories are worth noting and celebrating imo.

How is the excess skin situation, do you think youll have it fixed up by a doc? Not sure yet, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there. The concern of having excess skin is much less than my concern of being that heavy ever again and not being able to do most things from a physical standpoint. Like... - Just physically getting out of bed was a chore. - Standing up in the shower for a minute or two brought back pain. - Stairs... nah, bro. Nah. Elevator or GTFO - Bending down to pick things up... tough - Bending down to tie shoes... tough - Walking for more than 30 seconds... back pain - Running... get outta here with that shit - Trying to fit in other people's cars was tough. Then trying to put the seatbelt on was another challenge. - Flying on airplanes and having to ask for the seatbelt extender every time... Embarrassing. - The collapsible tray in first class airplane seats not fitting over my legs or around my stomach... embarrassing - Baaarely fitting in movie theater seats... embarrassing == The theaters I commonly go to have reclining seats where you hit a button on the inside of the arm of the chair... My hips would randomly hit the button so the chair would be moving while I'm watching the movie... Bleh I don't have any of these problems any more. When I was that heavy, life was hard 24/7. Now, the gym is hard for an hour or two per day 4 days per week, but life is much easier. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Don't worry about excess skin, skin is an organ and it heals. I went from ~360 to 180 myself and aside from some stretch marks on my belly that have faded a lot with time you can't really tell. As long as you're getting your protein your skin will shrink and stick to your muscles.

So I'm curious about where does the skin go. from what i understand, the skin will reflex to a point. however, people who are morbidly obese often have so much fat the skin will not correct and it can be surgically removed. theres medical videos you can watch, if you dare. --- -Only dead fish swim with the current http://error1355.com/ce/spudger.html ... The skin is there, but it's not that big a deal. Muscle builds up much bigger than fat, and once you get into the groove of working out and eating quality food the muscle comes easily. I'm not talking about ostentatious bodybuilder muscle, either, just working out enough to burn the calories is going to bulk you up a bit and it really doesn't take that much to occupy the skin that used to house the fat, especially around the shoulders and butt, which pulls up the belly and thighs. Plus, your skin isn't supposed to be bigger than your body, so it starts to shrink as soon as there is excess. You definitely lose weight faster than this process, but it is constantly happening and the healthy lifestyle that goes along with losing weight accelerates the process.
