He placed it right in front of his home as neighbors claims it represents all that is wrong in American modern society He said "It's a tibetan sign that's way back before swastikas were invented" and when asked if he was Tibetan, he said "I could be. I own this house. i'll put what i want. it aint one of your guys' business" The Tibetan symbol of spirituality is known as sauwastika in Buddhist Traditions. It faces the left rather than the right facing Hindu Swastika which was later adopted by Nazis and white supremacists. Johnson's Swastika faces right and is a replica of a Nazi Symbol. In Buddhism, the swastika is considered to symbolize with footprints of the Buddha The signs are also on his handrail and his doorbell as well which he says "I like those signs i think they look cool. I like them" Renee Schultz, who is Jewish has been his neighbor for 27 years and is shocked by his actions and claims he has never done anything this extreme. She said "I was very clear with him about my feelings. I don't agree with it, i think it's wrong. I don't like it but it's his yard" Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia claimed they don't have the power to force him to remove it but called on the public to renounce all forms and symbols of hatred and discrimination and calls it unacceptable on what he's doing.
