also the one takeaway i got from this conference is that I want more companies to make "Wasabi Green"-colored controllers

that's the true innovation google has achieved here

It's so you don't need a $2000+ PC to play. You're simply streaming the feed of you playing elsewhere.

Okay I guess I have top 3 ask a higher level question

What's the benefits to streaming your game? Just to save the space on your PC?

if you can't afford a tip-top PC or are tired of constantly upgrading it to keep up with the newest game specs you can just pay Google to play the game on their super google PCs and stream them to you

but like I've used OnLive and PSNow and I have a pretty good wired connection and you can tell you're basically watching a slightly laggy YouTube video of what you're doing. it's weird. I didn't like it.

Google's whole schtick is that the Stadia controller connects to the server directly and not to the console and then to the server so it's faster

Digital Foundry did some tests on the Stadia demo and found it was about as laggy as an Xbox One X when pressing the A button to jump in AC:O. but that was done in a google-monitored press event so who knows what it will be like in different parts of the country with different ISPs at different times

I'd say getting the Stadia Pro on day 1 is a bad idea, you're basically buying into a glorified open Beta. who knows how well this will work?

in slightly more controversial territory I actually think game streaming is an awesome idea which is why I tried PSNow and OnLive, but I also think it's way too early to be done right

also I bought like 2 games for OnLive and now it's gone and so are those games so welp. good luck Stadia users!

yes I began thinking maybe when my current PC starts to become too outdated I could see myself just getting a cheaper replacement and getting something like Stadia for PC stuff

Stadia will start to look interesting once the new consoles start coming out imo. You can play new games without having to put down $500 for the new console and play games at a pc level quality for $10 a month could be interesting. Still has to work well though.

I feel bad for people in parts of the country that just don't have ISP options and what they have is trash

Like they don't even get to be a part of the conversation

Maybe Google should have introduced this after expanding Google Fiber a little more

You are going to have to make so many more hops its going to be literally impossible to get that level of latency.

Yeah, fiber is basically dead in the water because of massive infrastructure challenges while 5G is poised to jump right past all currently existing infrastructure into an entirely new delivery method. Of course, it's coming with a host of technological challenges and limitations of it's own, but anyone looking to grow in high speed internet is going to be looking there.

Too bad SHINE's busy getting all the platinums and just generally being the Ace of Games.

Isn't the main issue with 5G that it doesn't penetrate walls as well as earlier standards and that the range is really short? 5G might not work as well indoors as 4G does.

So paying 10 dollars per month and bying games just to play them in a better resolution? I don't care for this.
Also pretty sure not all people have such good Internet connections.
Also do Americans have cap on their Internets? Why is that?

Depends on what provider you have which is based on where you live

I got Charter/Spectrum with no data caps and 200 mbps, but others are not quite as fortunate.

i hear data caps are more prevalent in Canada, actually. I don't think any ISP in my area has them.

a lot of people in more rural areas are subject to monopolies that flex their power though. those people were already gonna have a hard time getting a service like this to work. it sucks that they're cutting out so many customers right off the bat.

From what I've heard, soft caps around ~1TB are fairly common in the US, where your internet gets slowed after you hit 1TB for the month. Most people never hit 1TB so they don't realize it, though.

According to this article you can hit the cap though in around 65 hours. So if you play let us say 3 hours per day that is already more than enough.

i saw a video where Google was asked what they're gonna do to work with ISP data caps and they basically said "nothing, we'll be so successful that they'll all want to raise their caps!!"

i guess that's the view from the top huh
